The Machine Operator - Packaging Technical is responsible for operating and performing basic maintenance on packaging machinery to sustain line performance through the execution of key standard routines (CIL, CL, Tagging, C/O, SU/SD). The role includes understanding maintenance principles, troubleshooting during shifts, and conducting on-the-job training for newcomers. The operator ensures compliance with Nestlé SOPs, ISO standards, and company policies while maintaining a safe working environment. Additionally, the position involves competency building, coaching operators, and preparing technical operators for future technician roles.
JOB DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Maintain compliance with Nestlé SOPs, ISO Standards, and company policies, ensuring a safe working environment and proper functioning of safety devices.
• Operate and manage machine/line efficiency using operational reviews and standard routines to achieve sustainable results.
• Perform machine checks, record results, and maintain equipment in good condition while managing material loss within standard limits.
• Follow NGMP and cleaning procedures, ensuring hygiene and proper maintenance of cleaning tools and work areas.
• Utilize basic problem-solving tools and share knowledge to drive continuous improvement.
• Execute maintenance tasks per maintenance plans or schedules, including center lining, visual control creation, deep cleaning, and lubrication.
• Lead tagging negotiations and take ownership of closing tags, updating standards as needed.
• Troubleshoot issues during shifts and complete required documentation, escalating complex problems to maintenance or reliability engineers.
• Support changeover activities and assist operators as needed.
• Ensure operators perform quality checks on finished goods and incoming materials according to QMS standards.
• Report quality or machine issues promptly and isolate defective products.
• Provide accurate shift reports, monitor material loss, and propose corrective actions when necessary.
• Own corrective actions for unplanned downtime and manage line performance across shifts using daily and weekly schedules.
• Train new operators on TPM 7+4 practices and ensure competency matrix requirements are met.
• Lead IWG system implementation and participate in improvement projects, including modifications and installations.
• Obtain certifications from Engineering and SHE for basic maintenance tasks.
• Attend mandatory training sessions (SHE, Quality, HR) and adhere to Leader Standard Work and other assigned duties.
EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS
• Minimum 2 years of experience in the food industry, particularly in Food & Beverage
• Basic English proficiency (ability to understand technical documents and downtime reports).
• Basic computer skills (MS Word, MS Excel).
• Technical background in mechanical and electrical systems.
• Preferred: College or university degree in mechanical or electrical engineering.
• Certified machine operation experience (UHT, Aseptic Filler, Processing equipment, Packing line) or Technical Operator Scheme.
• Knowledge of manufacturing technology (wet/dry), NCE/TPM principles, and SHE requirements (Mode 0-4, Zero access, PTW, JHA, HIRA, Risk prediction, SHE Map, LOTO Map).
• Familiarity with quality management requirements (NGMP, mini-QMS, zoning) and line performance management (AI, eUPS, PS)
