The Senior Operations Startup Specialist plays a crucial role in planning and executing the operational aspects of investment projects, focusing on manufacturing excellence and waste reduction. This position involves leading a cross-functional team to ensure a smooth vertical ramp-up to full production while adhering to target costs and launch dates. The specialist is responsible for coordinating operational preparations, as well as pre-commissioning, commissioning, and startup activities to ensure project completion. Additionally, they will develop and maintain a detailed commissioning schedule that encompasses all phases from pre-commissioning to handover.
RESPONSIBILITIES
Before starting the project design phase:
•Define the project scope, success criteria, and milestone deliverables that support business objectives in collaboration with Product experts, AG, factory and market stakeholders.
•Build the investment project charter focused on operational performance, staffing, and training.
•Engage factory team in develop synergies between the project and the factory Continuous Excellence.
During project design phase:
•Execute the basic and detailed design of the project based on Nestlé Corporate Business Principles, Nestlé standards, local regulations, the defined User Requirements Specifications and the TPM characteristics of a unit operation (safety, quality, affordability, maintainability, operability, and reliability). Ensure by design the workers, and operators, safety during both the construction and the ongoing operation of the plant.
•Lead Current Operations Assessment and Change Impact Assessment activity to revise potential barriers that could place the project on risk. Lead the Development of an Operation Start-up Plan to coordinate the operational preparation (People, Materials, Methods)
During the project implementation phase:
•Lead the team and coordinate the contribution of all stakeholders to ensure the project implemented in accordance with the defined timing, cost and quality, the required corporate and category standards (i.e., Material and Packing Specs, Analytical methods, TPM Standards, etc.) and the characteristics of a unit operation
•Manage the required interactions outside of Nestlé to ensure that the product/process permits, and licenses are ready
During the start-up phase of the project:
•Lead the team and coordinate the contribution of all stakeholders to ensure the project charter and a vertical start-up are fulfilled, meeting the project scope, manufacturing excellence criterion and required production volumes. Complete a smooth handover to operations after the qualification and verification of the installation.
•Lead Commissioning, Installation Qualification, Operational Qualification and startup performance.
•Plan with the department leadership the startup plan, timing, resources, and overall production impact.
•Support the preparation and distribution of the project documentation, including the Manufacturing Dossier and TPM readiness assessment for the lines.
During the whole project life:
•Be the Manufacturing project team leader through integrating, motivating, coaching, developing, managing, and evaluating team members and being their support and liaison with the steering committee and all the project's stakeholders.
•Keep the End-to-End Project Manager informed
REQUIREMENTS
•BS/ BA Degree Preferred
•4+ years in successful Project and commissioning leadership, as Production manager, line supervisor, commissioning engineer, or OEM startup specialist
•Manufacturing Projects in consumer packaging, aseptic filling, aseptic processing (e.g., Product specialist, Process engineer, Application group, Project engineer)
•Knowledge of the requirements for a good capex submission and the available tool based on available online trainings and workshops.
•Effective communication at different levels of the organization (Business, Management, R&D, etc.)
•Training development (including coaching, competences training, machine specific technical understanding and training of mechanics and operators)
