The Director of Regulatory and Scientific Affairs will lead a team of Regulatory and Scientific Affairs Managers, Senior Specialists and Specialists to deliver regulatory compliance for the Business Plans across all the NUSA categories. Additionally, they will direct the execution of the regulatory strategy and assessments in Innovation & Renovation (I&R) leading to compliance and business collaboration by design of ingredients, labels, claims and communications. Lastly, the director will actively engage internally with our Global RSA in Switzerland, regulatory experts in Nestlé R&D, and externally with US regulatory authorities, selected trade associations and other team members as needed. We will use your expertise to stay ahead of industry trends and engage with the business to facilitate market entry into new/white space industries, and intense delivery to market of products from the I&R portfolio. 

 

Reponsibilities

  • Active Innovation/Renovation:
    • Assure timely communication to businesses of regulatory trends that can impact I&R. 
    • Establish and maintain effective relationships with Leadership Teams of all businesses supported by NUSA RSA. 
    • Assure staff actively engage with the businesses and other functions as effective partners.
    • Support speed to market, by providing regulatory expertise for new strategic areas and technologies as required for new product development as needed. 
    • Ability to manage complexity through keeping focused on key business objectives and results while making decisions in a variety of situations.
  • Full Regulatory Compliance 
    • Assure resources are available for faultless compliance 
    • Assure documented procedures to resolve and prevent non-compliance situation
  • Regulatory Foundation: People and Processes
    • Assure development and retention of RSA staff, including succession plans 
    • Assure development and use of efficient methods and tools 
    • Assure RSA has solid NCE Foundation – Goal Alignment, Leadership Development, and Compliance.
    • Other appropriate assigned activities and duties as requested by the NUSA CTO and President, Nestlé Corporate Affairs.
       

Requirements

  • Requires MS/MA, preferably in nutrition and/or food science. 
  • 10+ years experience in the food industry, primarily in regulatory affairs, regulatory compliance, nutrition or product development. 
  • Experience working with internal stakeholders (e.g. Business LT; Quality; TAG, CT-RSA, R&D Network)
