The Planogram Specialist partners with the Category Leadership Managers to influence and deliver merchandising solutions and decision support that drives growth for the assigned category. Accountabilities include co-ownership of customer relationships, POG development analysis & execution, managing on-going attribute updates and required database maintenance. Additionally, this position supports planogram reporting, ad hoc analytics and insights development using a variety of resources (Circana, JDA, Numerator, Nielsen IQ etc.).
Responsibilities include:
- Builds multiple versions of planograms based on pre-established assortment, clustering alternatives, fixture variations, and merchandising guidelines.
- Reviews and validates all planograms for adherence to the retailer’s strategy and conformity to recommended standards; applies revisions as needed.
- Maintains robust database environment to include store/item attribution, performance data uploads, and ongoing project store creation as needed. Continuously enhance internal processes and collaborate externally to identify opportunities for optimizing efficiency and driving process improvements.
- Where applicable also provides POG support for display merchandising for retailers (small and large format).
- Conducts ad-hoc analytics (gold standard POGs, ad-hoc space questions, etc.) to answer business management questions of the Customer Merchants, Field Category Managers, and Category Strategy Managers. Additionally, provides support of business reviews and insights development projects.
- Manages weekly category reporting by reviewing and communicating results, maintaining reporting databases, and creating new reports as needed.
- Division-wide subject matter expert of space across retailers (small and large format). Provide consultation to HORECA.
- Serve as the voice of space planning across the division by supporting CAMs and the Field Category in their preparation for retailer meetings. Advocate for the long term division vision by ensuring that space planning is an integral part of the discussion
- Facilitate the sharing of best practices among peers and division partners who may be less familiar with space planning.
- Optimization of third-party capabilities.
Requirements:
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in related field preferred, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Experience: 2+ years of experience in Sales, Analytics or Space Management at a manufacturer or retailer and/or equivalent combination of education and experience. Strong retail back-ground with CPG and/or Food industry experience a plus.
- Analytics: Aptitude to develop business and category knowledge and leverage analytical tools to answer business questions.
- Computer Skills: Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel.
- Expertise using Blue Yonder (JDA) Space Management preferred.
- Ability to write code using Sequel or Python to leverage with JDA a plus.
- Communication Skills: Excellent presentation, verbal, and written communication skills.
- Special Skills: Foundational ability to manage projects, work independently and within a team environment.
- Demonstrated ability to show initiative, tenacity, problem-solving.
Travel: Approximately 15% to include national meetings, local customer meetings, store visits, etc.
