Main Purpose of the Job:
A Senior Manager of Brand Marketing in an Expansion Desk is responsible for spearheading longer-term brand growth (3+ years) with a focus on identifying new brand/category whitespace, innovative business models, and advanced technology. This role involves leading the development of a robust innovation pipeline and integrating new opportunities into the Market Business Strategy. The Senior Manager may also oversee potential Mergers and Acquisition (M&A) activities.
Key Outputs/Deliverables:
Consumer & Customer Intimacy:
- Develops an in-depth understanding of consumer demographics, psychographics, and behavioral drivers through advanced data analytics.
- Transforms insights into strategic marketing innovations and comprehensive brand-building initiatives.
- Validates and develops consumer insights to drive relevant and impactful innovation.
- Strategically charts a course for the brand using data-driven decision-making and compelling storytelling to engage internal teams and customers.
- Identifies and addresses critical knowledge gaps in consumer, brand, product, and marketplace dynamics.
Business Planning:
- Leads cross-functional teams to drive portfolio optimization and value chain efficiency.
- Incorporates new business models, distribution strategies, and strategic partnerships into the brand’s innovation strategy.
- Develops and validates high-potential concepts with consumers to build a sustainable long-term portfolio pipeline.
- Ensures the 3-year strategic plan is comprehensive and aligns with operational and supply chain requirements.
- Conducts periodic reviews of long-term plans to identify growth opportunities and address market changes.
Brand & Product Experience:
- Oversees end-to-end brand projects, ensuring they are grounded in consumer insights and aligned with innovation strategies.
Commercial Excellence:
- Develops detailed business plans for new product opportunities.
- Manages the transition of new products to established business partners, ensuring seamless launch plans.
Talent Management:
- Inspires and motivates teams to achieve high performance targets.
- Provides continuous feedback and develops comprehensive development plans for team members.
- Leads talent recruitment efforts, ensuring a diverse and skilled workforce.
- Promotes the sharing of best practices across teams.
Key Activities Include:
- MBS / Long-term Strategy, Sustainability, M&A Targeting, New Business Models, Insights & Analytics, Product Innovation, Category Expertise.
Qualifications:
- University Degree (BA/BS) in Marketing or related business field; or equivalent experience.
- MBA preferred.
- Extensive knowledge of budget control methods, policies, and procedures.
- Exceptional negotiation and relationship-building skills.
- Advanced research and strategic analysis capabilities.
- Ability to work independently and adapt to rapid changes.
- Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet strict deadlines.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Applications.
Critical Experiences:
- At least 5 years of work experience leading strategic work in product/brand management
- Proven ability to lead cross-functional teams to achieve brand objectives.
- Demonstrated passion for learning and curiosity to explore new ideas and approaches.
- Extensive experience in developing strategic plans, including communication campaigns and commercialization strategies.
- Demonstrated success in leading and managing teams to achieve high performance targets.
