Position Overview:

Dare to imagine and shape the future of Nestle as a Senior Product Developer at the R&D North America (NA) team. This pivotal role involves driving breakthrough innovation and strategic initiatives within the organization. You'll be responsible for developing Food and Beverage Minimum Viable Products (MVPs) for our R+D Accelerator Program and providing product development and technical support for local initiatives and brands. Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams across all categories in the business and R&D network to explore and advance new business opportunities and differentiating technologies.

 

Key Responsibilities:

  • Coach Teams: Design consumer-centric MVPs across all Food and Beverage categories.
  • Drive Commercialization: Manage the end-to-end commercialization of MVPs, from ingredient and technology scouting to logistics within tight timelines. This may include travel to factories and partner facilities.
  • Technical Assistance: Utilize strong analytical and problem-solving skills to support local business units.
  • Compliance: Ensure MVPs are food safe and compliant with local regulations and Nestlé standards.
  • Prototype Creation: Develop prototypes to screen and advance cutting-edge technologies that boost business growth or are part of a Front-End Innovation strategy.
  • Innovation Kitchen: Support and coordinate benchtop sample creation and/or evaluation in the Innovation Kitchen area.
  • Manufacturing Locations: Aid in identifying, selecting, and validating manufacturing locations for limited-time shop tests.  Lead industrial trials and design effective trial protocols to assess and validate concepts and manufacturing process.
  • Digital Ambassador: Promote new digital solutions and tools that improve efficiency in all workstreams.
  • Tasting Events: Assist in planning and executing tasting events with Senior Leadership and other initiatives such as internal innovation challenges.
  • Network Engagement: Engage with internal and external partners to explore new technologies that support long-term business growth.

 

Requirements:

  • Education: Must have a BS or MS degree in Food Science, Food Engineering, Chemical Engineering, or similar fields.
  • Travel: This position requires 10-20% travel.
  • Experience: Minimum 5 years of Product Development experience in CPG, with a strong focus on innovation. Preferred experience in multiple Food and Beverage applications, Factory roles, and Research and Development.

Skills:

  • Creativity: Proven ability to develop innovative food and beverage concepts.
  • Technical Proficiency: Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and relevant software tools.
  • Communication: Excellent communication skills to articulate ideas, present findings, and influence stakeholders.
  • Project Management & Documentation: Proficiency in managing projects from ideation to execution, ensuring alignment with business strategy and consumer needs.  Documenting technical results, learnings and enabling knowledge transfer.
  • Technical Expertise: Knowledge of culinary skills, ingredients, and manufacturing processes to effectively transfer concept ideas into prototypes.
  • Data Analysis: Capability to analyze data and consumer insights to inform product development and strategic decisions.

Location: The position is based at our headquarters in Arlington, Virginia.
