POSITION SUMMARY:
The Senior Sustainability Program Manager is responsible for activating and managing initiatives in support of the sustainability roadmap across Nestlé USA. The Senior Manager should have demonstrated knowledge of sustainability principles, practices, and regulations with proven experience in driving and implementing sustainability initiatives across a complex organization. This position requires strategic thinking and the ability to manage diverse internal and external stakeholders. This individual works closely with various departments and stakeholders to develop and implement initiatives that promote environmental, social, and economic sustainability and plays an integral role in planning and executing sustainability projects in support of Nestlé’s sustainability goals. This position will have exposure to senior leadership throughout the organization and reports directly to the Director of Sustainability.

 

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Driving and implementing sustainability goals and targets for the organization across multiple topics such as Climate, Water, Energy, Regenerative Agriculture, Packaging, Retailer Partnerships, etc.
  • Leading cross-functional teams and routines to identify, prioritize and activate sustainability projects and initiatives to ensure the achievement of the strategic directions and objectives.
  • Collaborating with internal and external stakeholders to implement sustainability programs across our businesses, factories, etc.
  • Monitoring and reporting on the progress of our sustainability portfolio, ensuring they are on track and within budget.
  • Developing and implementing sustainability policies, practices, procedures, guidelines and driving capability building where required. Lead change management activities to drive compliance and commitments on sustainability.
  • Facilitating necessary governance for setting, deciding, and monitoring key decisions and commitments with stakeholders.
  • Identifying and managing risks and opportunities related to sustainability initiatives.
  • Providing guidance and support to the organization on sustainability-related matters.
  • Building and maintaining relationships with external partners, such as suppliers, NGOs, and government agencies.
  • Keeping up-to-date with industry trends and regulations related to sustainability.
  • Amplifying sustainability advancements to enable stakeholder support, including employees, shareholders, investors, and key opinion leaders (KOLs).
  • Performing other duties as assigned.

 

REQUIREMENTS AND MINIMUM EDUCATION LEVEL:

  • Bachelor's or master's degree in sustainability, environmental science, or a related field.

 

EXPERIENCE:

  • Several years of experience in sustainability project management, preferably in a leadership role.
  • Strong knowledge of internal Nestlé and external sustainability principles, practices, and frameworks (e.g., UN Sustainable Development Goals, GRI Standards, Global ESG standards, etc).

 

SKILLS:

  • Excellent project management skills, including the ability to plan, organize, execute and prioritize multiple large-scale projects.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to think critically and creatively.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to liaise across boundaries and effectively collaborate with diverse stakeholder sets.
  • Proficiency in data analysis and reporting, with the ability to use sustainability metrics and tools to drive the organization's commitments.
  • Knowledge of relevant regulations and standards related to sustainability.
  • Strong leadership and team management skills, with the ability to motivate and inspire others towards sustainability goals.
  • Strong ability to influence with integrity.
  • Embodies the mindset to drive continuous improvement.
  • Adept at managing change and working through ambiguity to identify and drive to a solution, both independently and collaboratively with cross-functional teams.
