Position Summary

Our 1L Scholars Legal Internship is a paid, full time summer program offered in partnership with the Leadership Council on Legal Diversity & the law firm of Mayer Brown LLP. This program provides first year law students the opportunity to intern with the in-house legal team at our Arlington, VA office. Interns will work with the Nestlé Legal team in areas such as intellectual property, litigation, commercial contracts, employment, advertising, food law & general legal matters. In–house lawyers will mentor interns with feedback to gain a better understanding of the unique role of an in-house law department at the world’s largest food company. Through our partnership with Mayer Brown, interns will work 2-3 weeks at Mayer Brown’s DC offices doing work for Nestlé & other clients and participate in Mayer Brown’s summer associate training & events. During this time, interns will work directly with associates & partners to gain experience and insights from working at one of America’s premier full-service law firms.
Projects Examples
As an intern, you will gain exposure to senior legal leadership & develop your network.

  • Reviewing and drafting commercial contracts
  • Assisting with the development of policies, training materials, checklists and guidelines in a variety of practice areas including employment & environmental law
  • Preparing cease and desist letters for commercial and intellectual property disputes
  • Investigating and managing potential trademark infringement matters
  • Research current trends in food law
  • Digital and social media matters
