Position Summary

We are looking for our wet and dry treats research scientist with background in Animal Nutrition or Food with some nutrition focus to participate in a stimulating, multicultural and challenging learning environment while providing a thorough exposure to the PetCare business within the Nestlé PetCare R&D environment.

You are responsible for Plan, organize and perform a broad range of research and / or development activity utilizing a high level of advanced knowledge to create new products and / or differentiating technology while using professional judgement in autonomy.
Proactively offer knowledge internally and to our business partners and following Nestle procedures.

A day in the life of RD product developer in Dry and Treats

 

Product Development         
Lead high priority and high complex projects and actively drive them forward to successful completion. Manage trials / experiments on pilot scale and in the factory necessary to achieve all briefed objectives on time.   

Requirements include, but are not limited to:
- Demonstrate effective project leadership by creating and managing cross-functional, international project teams.
- Build the scientific/technical pipeline and strategy in product development.
- Ensure to share the learning through notes/ R&D Reports when it is relevant 
Share experience with the business, product platform, factory, marketing as required.
Travel within EU occasionally, travel worldwide as needed.
            
Communication     
Effectively communicate with all stakeholders through oral presentation, written technical communication, notes and R&D reports.

Proactively communicate new ideas and best practices within the global PetCare Business.
Proven ability and willingness to collaborate actively in a team and transfer knowledge.
Share technical experience as required (e.g., for new recruits, pilot plant staff ...)   
Raise commercial / technical issues to the appropriate level and lead the effort to address them.   
Ensure maintenance of all appropriate documents and projects records.   
   
Innovation /renovation    
Organize and lead creative sessions for the creation of new product concepts, new processes or equipment.
Participate in consumer research sessions organized by Marketing and funnel ideas into the Cat 1, Cat 2 GSBU development pipeline.
Stay fully up to date in your field of knowledge.      
Drive forward new product / process ideas culminating in the approval and execution of Cat 1 or Cat 2 briefs (globally and within EMENA).

 

Nestlé policy protection     
Adhere to the company's policy of protection of patent rights and intellectual property.    
Strictly comply with the Nestlé approach for continuous improvement and product safety (NIMS, NCE, Quality Manual)
With no exception conduct new raw material safety assessment, write a pHACCP, and follow product release procedure.
Fulfill each of the tasks described above respecting the requirements of the quality management system, food safety, safety of personnel and the environment, which are in force in R&D Amiens and aligned with the Nestlé Corporate Business Principles. Report any issue related to these requirements. Take into account all identified risks related to the job

 

What will make you successful
  • Graduated with a minimum of a master’s degree in Food Technology or Process Engineering. English mandatory
  • Experience with extrusion.
  • At least 5 years of professional experience related to technology transferrable to pet food (could be but not excluded breakfast cereal, biscuits, meat processing…)
  • Track record of Innovation, curiosity, creative, demonstrate proactivity
  • Strong communication skillset in a multi-cultural environment and a willingness to collaborate within a large corporate  environment, with the ability to convey messaging to technical and non-technical audiences
  • Excellent knowledge in biochemistry, meat sciences, nutrition or process technology.
  • Acknowledged expertise in raw material and food, ideally pet food, formulation and / or advanced food processing know how, ideally pet food processing
  • Track records of successfully managed complex projects
  • Deep understanding of the commercial / technical interrelationship in a multi-cultural environment.
  • Proven ability to create differentiating technology and alignment with the business needs.
  • Provides strong scientific / technical guidance within Nestlé Purina.
  • Actively pursues change
  • Needs to be a Self-Starter and self-generate new innovative product and process ideas
