We are now looking for an Instrument Technician to be based in Babelegi Factory.
In this role you will be responsible for driving improvements and performance of machinery and assets, reporting to the Automation Engineer. Maintenance of instrumentation onsite to ensure 100% compliance with food safety standards and Plant Asset Intensity. Attending to instrumentation faults and breakdowns in the factory as well as calibration instrumentation. (Metal detectors/Xray/etc.) Good understanding and be able to communicate properly and openly. Need to be a good problem solver and the drive to excel.
A day in the life of an Instrument Technician:
Management Responsibilities
- Assist and coordinate apprentices, Training and on job coaching.
- Assist with the control of the Automation component of the site M&I budget and any capital projects.
- Assist with monitoring Instrumentation in accordance with the key performance indicators.
- Demonstrate and promote the company's values and integrate them within Instrumentation.
Functional Responsibilities
- Assist Production, Quality Management and Engineering to resolve Instrumentation issues and Breakdowns.
- Perform Instrumentation maintenance.
- Assist with proper management of Instrumentation documents (manuals, diagrams, instrument data sheet, through efficient filing and archiving procedures.
- Ability to understand PLC preferably Rockwell / Siemens. Ability to understand Aveva applications will be an advantage
- Assist and drive Continuous Improvement (CI) in Instrumentation with the aim of achieving optimized plant performance. Responsibilities relating to the Maintenance and Improvement of Instrumentation assets:
- Assist with implementing maintenance and inspection plans to ensure reliability, sustainability, and security of the Instrumentation infrastructure.
- Monitor plant and equipment to ensure optimal operation and reduction of planned and unplanned downtime. Responsibilities relating to the installation of new Instrumentation assets:
- Perform daily and weekly plant checks and complete inspection lists.
- Make quick and healthy decisions based on critical and priority activities.
- Test and Communicate work completed.
- Report all defects.
- Complete and sign work sheets.
- Ability to do standby
What will make you successful?
- Degree/Diploma in Instrumentation or N6 Instrumentation with Trade Test
- Minimum 2 years’ experience in the field of Instrumentation in a manufacturing facility.
- Computer literate (Excel, Word, Power point)
- In-depth knowledge of instrumentation and process control, PID Control, Automation Interface protocols.
- Knowledge of electricity particularly low voltage installations.
- Knowledge of food processing operations and technology.
