Position Summary

A transformational leader that will introduce, inspire, influence and lead design-led thinking across the organization.  Develop and champion the design vision, brand strategies, design thinking capabilities and execution within the organization. The Head of Brand Design will support the development and evolution of brand image and design led experiences in line with business objectives, is the functional expert in delivering trainings on BBNW brand properties, five senses, and packaging/service experience best practice. Provides functional support in design agency relationships, and leads teams involved in strategy and execution related to brand design activities.

A day in the life of...

Design thinking strategist:

- Creates a competitive advantage for Nestle through the infusion of Design Thinking across the organization

- Builds design thinking and strategic visual communication into the brand building and product/service development process (Brand Building the Nestle Way - BBNW).

- Ensures all design and visual communication contributes to enhancing the company/brand image as a trusted leader in Nutrition Health and Wellness (NHW) and sustainability

- Partners with marketing, consumer research, product technology, and structural packaging to develop portfolio strategies that inspire consumers, support Nestlé's Brand Architecture standards and facilitate shopper navigation within the portfolio

Leader of design function

- A transformational leader that will build the optimal design structure and organization to lead brand design and design thinking, and implement by attracting, developing, retaining and bringing the right capabilities needed to succeed.

- Inspires and coaches a forward-thinking team of D2D Brand Managers, and develops a Strategic Design Manager to support in implementing, guiding, and training the cross-functional organization on Brand Design best practices and Design Thinking capabilities.

And:

The change agent:   

- Understands role of design and visual communications in supporting business results and develop KPIs to track and measure impact of design.

- Responsible for streamlining and optimizing the design development process from concept to artwork production with the support of global Nestle tools including Design to Delivery (D2D) process and ContentHub.

- Responsible for advocacy and education on the importance of an aligned design process and in managing brand assets in the most effective way, including leading local implementation of an asset management tool and creation and/or dissemination of design and packaging-related guidelines and standards.   

- Exhibits expertise and interest in effective visual communciation through digital channels - brand experiences in digital as well as product and packaging presentation in ecommerce.

What will make you successful

12-15+ years’ experience in packaging design, brand design or consumer marketing with training or deep experience in design or equivalent FMCG, or 10+ years design agency experience in account management, strategic planning, creative leadership and / or executive management function. Ideally experience in both. Packaging design and brand identity experience is a pre-requisite.

Experience in leading, managing or inspiring brand and design leaders, cross-functional teams, agency relationships, and deep experience training teams on how to effectively harness the power of design thinking and design excellence across the organization.

Other Personal Qualities:

Strong strategic and creative background with leadership skills.
Ability to provide strong POV, evaluate creative and provide actionable creative direction feedback to agencies.
At ease and confident working with cross functional and cross cultural teams
Ability and experience managing and motivating a team (including creative team)
Strong verbal and written communication skills and excellent presentation skills
