The Lead Digital Print Shop Operator is responsible for assisting the supervisor on a daily basis and for ensuring the efficiency of the operation of the digital print shop. The lead will be a resource for the other operators that will provide direction and assistance throughout the shift. They will ensure that everyone is working in a safe manner, producing quality labels, and adhering to the Operating Procedurs that are expected to be followed while operating the equipment. The Lead Operator will assist in training and development of the other operators.

 

Responsibilities

  • Communicates with team the daily direction for the shift
  • Assists team with issues that may arise during operation, either while printing on the press, finishing and die cutting on the finisher or inspecting and slitting on the inspector. The Lead Operator will also be expected to perform one of these processes as needed in order to keep production moving forward.
  • Assist with or perform daily, weekly and/or monthy preventive maintenance routines on the various equipment
  • Assist in supply tracking and update the Digital Print Shop Manager when supplies are at an ordering point.
  • Ensure paperwork and logbooks are being completed properly
  • Ensure the Print Shop is being cleaned and organised ie, garbage is empty at end of the shift, carts are ready for next shift, floors are swept and or mopped
  • Manage the department in the absence of the supervisor. Retrieving the new PO's, updating the DFE, printing work orders, etc. to ensure there is always enough work for the current and next shift and closing out completed work orders and recording in the tracking database.

  • Keen attention to detail to verify all materials, artwork, paperwork are correct
  • Possess skills to prioritize, multi-task, and work in a fast-paced environment
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs
  • Ability to walk, bend, lift, twist, kneel & reach with hands and arms and stand for extended periods of time

 

Experience

  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Prior experience in a Print Shop environment required
  • Experience running HP6K or similar printers

 

The approximate hourly pay for this position is $29.80 - $36.49*Please note that the pay range provided is a good faith estimate for the position at the time of posting. Final compensation may vary based on factors including but not limited to knowledge, skills and abilities as well as geographic location.
