Position Summary:

 

As the Maintenance Manager holds the overall responsibility for managing the Maintenance function, ensuring the production of high-quality nutritional supplements with maximum operating effectiveness and safety. This critical role is an integral part of the Plant Management Team, overseeing the repair and maintenance of all plant and facility equipment, as well as providing technical guidance to the Maintenance Staff. Adherence to Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMPs) is paramount to ensure the safety, quality, and quantity of the products.

 

Key Responsibilities:

 

  • Managing daily maintenance operations, ensuring compliance with safety regulations, cGMP guidelines, and best practices for corrective and preventative maintenance procedures. This includes accurate completion of the preventative maintenance program.
  • Coordinating, overseeing, and managing repair and maintenance work performed by technicians, vendors, contractors, or third-party partners.
  • Providing on-call and on-site support for emergency situations.
  • Recruiting, hiring, training, and supervising maintenance associates, conducting regular performance appraisals, and providing coaching, guidance, direction, and motivation to foster ownership of results.
  • Managing the operational budget, key performance indicators (KPIs), and equipment efficiencies for the Maintenance department.
  • Overseeing all site maintenance needs, including facility, equipment, and grounds.
  • Building technical capability within the Maintenance and Operations teams.
  • Managing critical components of the Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS), planned maintenance, preventive maintenance programs, parts and storeroom operations, clean/inspect/lubricate programs, etc.
  • Cultivating a culture of integrated maintenance, emphasizing teamwork and cooperation between operating teams and Maintenance Associates.
  • Establishing effective communication and setting standards with facility and maintenance, repair, and operations (MRO) support vendors.
  • Tracking work hours, maintaining work orders, managing material purchases, and evaluating ways to reduce time and costs.

 

Experience and Education Requirements: 

 

  • Bachelor's degree in mechanical or electrical engineering is preferred. 
  • 5+ years of proven production or manufacturing maintenance experience in lieu of degree.
  • 2-5 years of proven leadership/management experience required
  • Military background a plus 
  • A background in the food, drug or nutritional industry is a strong plus
  • Detailed knowledge of mechanical and electrical machine repair, preventative maintenance, air handlers, HVAC, and plumbing, safe and efficient operation of plant utilities and all support equipment related to a packaging facility. 
  • Strong knowledge facilities machines and equipment.
  • Excellent organizational and leadership abilities.
  • Experience with plumbing, electrical, Compressed air and whole-facility maintenance.
  • The ability to effectively provide coaching and direction to Maintenance leaders, Team Leaders, and Associates in maintenance and operations.
  • The ability to create and implement maintenance best practice systems
  • Available to work days and evenings, weekdays, and weekends
  • The ability to effectively communicate to and collaborate with senior management, outside consultants, suppliers and team members
  • Demonstrated ability to constructively participate in tactical and strategic technical planning discussions for capital programs and other major projects undertaken
  • Should be an assertive self-starter, who can also consistently display the interpersonal skills of both a strong leader and an effective team player
  • Sound judgment and high ethical standards, coupled with proven negotiating skills, which reflect a solid combination of business acumen, common sense, insight and an agile intellect
  • Intermediate to advanced PC skills that encompass Microsoft Office, Excel, PowerPoint and ERP applications (i.e. SAP strongly preferred)

 

 

The approximate pay range for this position is $115,000.00 to $125,000.00. Please note that the pay range provided is a good faith estimate for the position at the time of posting. Final compensation may vary based on factors including but not limited to knowledge, skills and abilities as well as geographic location.
