We are now looking for a Team Leader Outbound (Warehouse) to be based in Bellville DC Cape Town.
The successful candidate will be responsible for managing designated teams within the Distribution Center (DC). They will ensure that all customer deliveries are accurately picked, staged, and dispatched on time to meet key performance indicators (KPIs), such as On-Time In-Full (OTIF) delivery, customer order fulfillment, safety and governance adherence, and overall customer satisfaction.
The candidate will be expected to drive a culture of accelerated performance while excelling in compliance and contributing to the achievement of departmental KPIs. This role will require high-level problem-solving skills utilizing SDCA (Standardize-Do-Check-Act) and PDCA (Plan-Do-Check-Act) tools, along with a strong understanding of warehouse management systems (SAP) and other digital platforms that enhance efficiency.
Additionally, the candidate will be tasked with effectively implementing new ideas in line with global standards to accelerate efficiency and streamline operations.
A day in the life of a Team Leader Outbound (Warehouse):
- Control, Maintain and Ensure Accuracy Of Master Data By:
- Managing the workflow of new and existing materials as well as ascertaining that the data related to pick – face, bin and materials are updated as and when required.
- Note that the requirements include but not limited to:
- Assisting in discontinuation of materials and ensuring efficient use of warehouse capacity
- Actively participate in all Warehouse related matters of the Customer Facing Supply Chain to ensure cross functional alignment through:
- Regular and Pro-active communication with customers, customer service and other key stakeholders updated
- Collaboration with customers, customer service and other key stakeholders on elements that will have an impact on Freshness and Bad Goods
- Directing the compilation of the daily/weekly inbound schedule as per the agreed 'footprint' with the DC Manager
- Directing and vetting daily/monthly reports on in-transit shipments to ensure timely clearance of standard reports.
- Actively participate in all Warehouse related matters of the Customer Facing Supply Chain to ensure a cross-functional alignment through:
- Regular and Pro-active communication with CS and other key stakeholders
- Collaboration with CS and other key stakeholders on elements that will have an impact on Freshness and Bad Goods.
- Address all variances with sending plants upon receipt of inbound loads. Ensure that all products delivered are in line with the first time quality principle. Address and execute all hauler claims for short, delivered product in line with the relevant time lines until payment is made.
- Maintain Budget and Control Variances By:
- Organizing daily cycle counting and analyze daily/weekly variances to institute corrective action where stock variances are
- Managing IRA, stock losses and bad goods and provide monthly dashboard information
- Preparing and supplying analysis of DC related top 10 Bad Goods.
- Manage staff to obtain productivity targets.
- Manage warehouse accuracy in terms of picking.
- Management of staff resources
- Management of Reach Trucks and Power pallet trucks (PPT) as well as the CHEP Account
- Management of Kronos hours, annual leave, absenteeism
- Note that the requirements include but not limited to:
- Updating KPI’s/DOR/WOR boards and presenting/responding to questions related to information on the boards.
- Managing inbound/outbound transport vehicles in terms of turnaround times.
- Managing outsourced transport service providers/agents in terms of POD‘s, outstanding shipments, on time deliveries etcetera.
- Manage Inventory Control By:
- Ensuring that shipments are completed on time for pre-loading.
- Running daily blocked stock report and investigating reasons thereof
- Managing printing and reprinting of SSCC labels and ensuring that best practices are complied with.
- Manage the timeous closing of shipments
- Manage unit to unit transactions
- Minimize stock losses through regular cycle counting and bin verification as well as pick face maintenance. Investigate and report discrepancies. Identify and communicate stock close to expiry to all relevant stakeholders.
- Manage Safety and Health By:
- Ensuring that safety regulations and legislation are adhered to
- Investigating and reporting all accidents
- Ensuring compliance to driven machinery requirements
- Ensuring implementation and compliance with quality control systems and procedures
- Manage Talent and Succession Plans By:
- Conducting IDP’s, PE/PDG and driving performance management
- Maintaining discipline and taking corrective action where necessary
- Select, retain, develop and lead the right people
- Assist LEAN Value Stream Design by embracing and implementing a structured approach towards all the elements of NCE thereby ensuring that a continuous improvement culture is developed and sustained
What will make you successful?
- Minimum 3-5 year’s experience in the Distribution environment
- Excellent communication skills
- High level of attention to detail
- Minimum required qualification is NQF 6/ Production Diploma or equivalent and relevant operational experience at market/business level in the following areas is beneficial
- Formal Knowledge of distribution end to end process
- SAP experience
- Employee Relations experience
- Strong 5S management routines
