Job Description: 
 

The Project Engineering Manager will play a vital role in the optimization of Nespresso’s warehousing processes.  This role will collaborate with cross-functional teams to enhance efficiency, improve operational quality, and drive continuous improvement initiatives.  Other key duties include co-partnering with Nespresso USA and Global Headquarters, as well as all 3PLs in the design and development of new systems/machines to improve the organizations efficiencies and customer experience.  This role will also oversee maintenance to current equipment to enhance use and design. 

This Project Engineering Manager will also provide Project Engineering support to operations in the main areas of capital project execution and order fulfillment line support. You will lead and manage assigned projects from conception through installation and hyper care phase, as well as being responsible for Project Engineering management, fulfillment line problem solving, administering budgeting, design, installation, qualification, and commissioning of new/modified automated fulfillment systems. This role maintains visibility to the design process and assure adherence to all established key components and project deliverables during Go Live.

The top priority for this role is the transformation of our operations to robotic automation order fulfillment, starting in Bethlehem PA in 2024/25 and potentially other locations over the next 5 years. This is a newly created, individual contributor role and this position will work a hybrid-based schedule at our Bethlehem, Pennsylvania Warehouse (3 days onsite and the rest remotely). 

Responsibilities: 

•    Plan the technical side of an investment project ensuring a design for direct-to-consumer order fulfillment excellence (free of waste) and lead the execution (from investment project charter until vertical start-up) by managing a cross functional team whose objectives is to oversee the capital investments relating the company's fixed assets; This could involve the relocation and optimization of the existing fixed asset base and/or the purchase of new fixed assets.
•    Preparing designs, project controls and specifications, schedules, cost estimates, production, transportation, installation, testing and/or commissioning of new infrastructure, facilities, equipment, etc.
•    Monitoring progress and performance against the project plan; taking action to resolve operational problems and minimize delays.
•    Identifying, developing, and gathering the resources necessary to complete the project.
•    Includes preparing and validating engineering standards, designs and work specifications; developing project schedules, budgets and forecasts; and selecting materials, equipment, project staff, and external contractors. 
•    Supervises professional level employees (typically entry and experienced level) and may also supervise some para-professional employees.
•    Sets goals and objectives for team members for achievement of operational results. 
•     Ensures policies, practices, and procedures are understood and followed by direct reports, customers and stakeholders.
•    Key skill set: collaboration, partnership, and effective communication.
•    Quality: Collaborate with the control team to ensure that equipment meet or exceed established quality standards.
•    Identify and address root causes of defects or non-conformities in the production process.
•    Work closely with the various teams to ensure a smooth transition from design to production.
•    Collaborate/Create and maintain detailed documentation, including work instructions, process flow diagrams, and standard operating procedures (SOPs).

Requirements: 

•    Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or in a related field required; Master’s degree in Engineering or Mechanical Engineering preferred. 
•    5+ years of professional work experience in Robotics, leading Robotic Automations and Engineering projects required. 
•    Must have strong knowledge of manufacturing processes, production equipment, and quality control methodologies.
•    Experience with capital investment projects management within either a fulfillment or manufacturing industry required, preferably within the CPG industry. 
•    Demonstrated fluency in MS Office (Word/Excel/Outlook/PowerPoint) required. 
•    Must be familiar of methods to minimize the likelihood of injuries of damages to people and/or equipment (Safety, Health & Environmental). 
•    AutoCAD knowledge and experience is required.
•    Must be skilled in budget planning and financial analysis, as well as in industrial equipment procurement and negotiations. 
•    Operational experience in Warehouse Management, Transportation or Physical Logistics Projects required. 
•    Must possess strong Project Management skills with expertise in key areas including Engineering, E&A, Utilities, etc.
•    Must have excellent communication (oral and written), stakeholder management, time management and organizational skills. 
•    Willing and able to work under pressure to meet tight deadlines with minimal supervision. 
•    Must be able to complete major projects and develop/execute validation documents. 
•    Knowledge of the requirements for a good capex submission and the available tool based on available online trainings and workshops a plus. 
•    Willing and able to travel up to 25% based on the needs of the team and the business.
