Position Summary:
As the Analytical Laboratory Supervisor you play a crucial role in managing and supervising the Analytical Laboratory. The laboratory provides essential testing support for raw materials, finished bulk products, and third-party product release testing. As the Supervisor, you will be responsible for ensuring that the work performed by the QC laboratory personnel is accurate, timely, efficient, and compliant with company policies, safety regulations, quality SOPs, cGMP, GLP regulations, and FDA regulations.
Additionally, as a leader within the Analytical Laboratory, you will take on the vital role of nurturing and guiding a team of 11 members. Your focus will be on fostering their development and growth, creating an environment that supports their professional advancement. Key Responsibiltites:
- Ensure that the laboratory adheres to company policies, SOPs, cGMP, GLP regulations, and FDA regulations, thereby ensuring that all laboratory personnel follow the appropriate specifications or associated compendial monographs.
- Distribute work assignments and ensure timely completion and release of raw materials, bulk products, and third-party products.
- Efficiently schedule raw material, in-process, bulk product, and finished product testing to support production scheduling.
- Ensure appropriate release or rejection of products. • Proactively identify and resolve problem areas before they impact compliance, product quality, and availability.
- Collaborate with management to streamline operations and enhance departmental efficiency.
- Work with staff to investigate all Out of Specification (OOS) results and document them accurately.
- Provide technical support to Manufacturing, Quality Assurance, and R&D (as applicable) for questionable batches and results.
- Conduct testing for stability samples, Tech Service, special requests, as well as raw material, finished bulk, and third-party product release testing.
- Regularly report to management on products currently in the laboratory, their testing status, and planned completion dates.
- Collaborate with peers to develop and implement laboratory documents such as SOPs (Standard Operating procedures), Specifications, Protocols, Reports, etc.
- Coach subject matter experts on effective training practices to ensure efficient training of new analysts on testing procedures.
- Monitor overall laboratory safety and take necessary actions to maintain safe work practices. • Provide necessary training to chemists as required.
- Be prepared to work additional hours to complete daily assignments.
- Perform other duties as assigned.

Experience and Education Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in a science-related field or a closely related discipline; extensive significant experience can be considered in lieu of a Bachelor's degree.
- 10 years of experience in an analytical laboratory.
- 5 years of experience supervising or leading a technical team.
- Experience in utilizing analytical methods and instrumentation such as HPLC, GC, ICP, FTIR/NIR, UPLC/MS, or other required techniques.
- Proficiency in technical writing.
- Working knowledge of Empower software is preferred.
- Ability to read, analyze, and interpret complex documents.
- Effective response to sensitive inquiries or complaints.
- Application of logical or scientific thinking to a wide range of intellectual and practical problems.
- Ability to comprehend nonverbal symbolism (formulas, scientific equations, graphs, etc.).
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office (including Word, Excel, Outlook) and familiarity with basic laboratory procedures.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to walk, talk, and hear. The employee frequently stands and may be required to sit for periods of time. Additionally, the employee may use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. The use of a standard computer keyboard for data entry is also involved.
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
- The work environment may involve exposure to powders, chemicals, and allergens (such as peanuts, tree nuts, milk, dairy, eggs, wheat, gluten, soy, fish, and shellfish).
The approximate pay range for this position is $85,000.00 to $95,000.00. Please note that the pay range provided is a good faith estimate for the position at the time of posting. Final compensation may vary based on factors including but not limited to knowledge, skills and abilities as well as geographic location.
