Position Summary: 

 

We are currently seeking a highly skilled and motivated Procurement Specialist to take the lead in managing the procurement of raw material spend categories for Nestle Health Science. In this pivotal role, you will be responsible for establishing and nurturing strong working partnerships with both in-market and Nestrade (global buying organization) stakeholders. Your primary objective will be to optimize sourcing, supplier selection, pricing, contracting, and ongoing supplier management. As the key interface between NHS and Nestrade, you will play a crucial role in developing category strategies, identifying opportunities for value creation, and spearheading cross-functional projects. Additionally, you will serve as a vital resource to manage local supplier relationships with a keen focus on risk management, innovation, and sustainability. The impact of this role will be influencing critical areas such as the Cost Conversion Cycle, Customer Fill Rate, Rejection Rates, Cost of Goods Sold, Strategic Suppliers, Network Optimization, Upstream Sourcing, New Product Introduction, and Portfolio Simplification. We are looking for a candidate who possesses exceptional skills in procurement and supplier management, coupled with a strong ability to drive strategic initiatives and foster collaboration across various teams and stakeholders.

 

Key Responsibilities:

 

  • Manage a significant spend portfolio of up to $100 million USD, overseeing procurement activities across multiple suppliers and categories with varying levels of complexity.
  • Managing assigned categories, including localizing global strategies, developing at-market strategies, and coordinating with suppliers and Nestrade buyers.
  • Identifying and managing a continuous improvement pipeline to deliver year-over-year productivity while ensuring a stable supply.
  • Ensuring savings tracking in partnership with Finance.
  • Conducting market research in various areas to contribute to Category Strategies.
  • Staying updated on market conditions and maintaining an agile mindset to meet changing business needs.
  • Providing advice on optimal sourcing, supplier selection, pricing, contracting, and commercialization while meeting quality and service level requirements.
  • Actively advocating NHS's perspective to Nestrade stakeholders to maximize overall value for the NHS market.
  • Monitoring supplier performance and proposing improvement plans as necessary.
  • Defining a proactive risk management strategy for critical items and ensuring proactive problem-solving of supply issues.
  • Clearly communicating issues to key stakeholders and escalating when necessary.
  • Supporting new product, new technology, or new initiative launches as applicable.
  • Leveraging supplier partnerships to secure differentiated ingredients and technology.
  • Supporting the corporate sustainability strategy by representing supply base capabilities and collaborating with the Nestrade and Nestle Sustainability team to achieve sustainability goals and integrate them into the strategic sourcing process.
  • Assisting with various transformation projects (such as network optimization and complexity reduction) as needed.
  • Ensuring timely and accurate maintenance of procurement data in the ERP system (e.g., quotas, contracts, source lists, etc.).
  • Verifying the financial assumptions in the monthly price forecast review process.

 

 

 

Education Requirements

 

  • Bachelor's Degree preferred, in Business, Engineering, or Food Science.
  • 3-5 years of experience in direct raw material categories, particularly in the food, pharmaceutical, or nutraceutical industries.
  • Experience in Procurement, supporting manufacturing, commercial, or corporate functions.
  • Ability to work and communicate effectively across various functions.
  • Experience in developing and implementing new suppliers and business solutions is desired.
  • Experience in change management implementation is also valued.
  • Demonstrating increasing responsibility in procurement is a plus.
  • Strong self-motivated, capable of following processes and procedures while dealing with some ambiguity.
  • Strong ability to lead cross-functional teams to resolve problems.
  • Knowledge of the strategic sourcing process and category management is essential.
  • Excellent project management skills
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, and Word.
  • SAP experience is required.
  • Proven analytical skills, including data analysis and understanding of business processes.
  • Strong customer-service oriented, with strong written and oral communication skills.

 

 

The approximate pay range for this position is $65,000.00 to $75,000.00. Please note that the pay range provided is a good faith estimate for the position at the time of posting. Final compensation may vary based on factors including but not limited to knowledge, skills and abilities as well as geographic location.
