Position Summary:
The Control Tower Specialist plays a crucial role in coordinating all domestic inbound and outbound flow activities between Nestlé warehouses, factories, and Co-Manufacturing facilities. This position is responsible for managing day-to-day Control Tower operations, tracking and measuring performance, and ensuring compliance with transportation regulations. The ideal candidate will possess strong analytical skills, excellent communication abilities, and a proactive approach to problem-solving
A day in the life of a Control Tower Specialist:
• A Control Tower Specialist’s day starts with ensuring shipments are on schedule and maintaining timely communication with internal stakeholders and third-party carriers.
• The specialist monitors performance metrics and addresses transportation issues, providing resolutions to maintain smooth operations.
• During the day, carrier loads are tracked using Fourkites, after-hours escalations are managed, and accessorial charges are validated as needed.
• You will also participate in performance analysis, working closely with the Domestic Transportation Manager and other teams to ensure compliance with operational standards.
• Your role will require you to engage in proactive communication regarding any known delays, manage transportation claims, and support sustainability initiatives by optimizing container utilization.
• By the end of the day, you will have contributed to the overall efficiency of Nestlé's supply chain operations, ensuring customer satisfaction and adherence to company standards.
Role Requirements
• Strong knowledge of end-to-end transportation and warehouse shipment processes.
• Proficiency in SAP System (GLOBE) and understanding of Standard Operating Procedures in Transportation.
• Familiarity with end-to-end payment processes and data management principles.
• Excellent analytical skills with the ability to conduct root cause analysis related to transportation issues.
• Demonstrated experience in managing transportation compliance and performance indicators, including On Time Performance, Accessorial Spend, and Cost to Serve KPIs.
• Ability to communicate effectively with internal teams and external stakeholders, including third-party carriers and suppliers.
• Commitment to sustainability and lean enterprise principles, with experience in eliminating non-value-added activities.
• Understanding of Canadian-based geographies and logistics operations.
• Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple priorities.
