POSITION SUMMARY:

As a Senior Data Engineer within R&D function, you will design, build, and maintain data pipelines that support the integration of digital tools from idea to launch. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure data quality, compliance, security, and accessibility. This role is ideal for someone looking to develop their skills in data engineering and contribute to innovative projects. The ideal candidate will have a strategic mindset, excellent communication skills, and the ability to build solutions from the ground up.

 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Contribution to data pipeline development, under the supervision and guidance of local and functional data owners and data scientists.
  • Implement data quality checks and validation processes to ensure data accuracy and reliability.
  • Work on data requirements (provided by UX and Data Scientists) that will be used to train and develop models and algorithms to solve business challenges.
  • As part of a POC/POV, prepares data, helps in variable creation, creates information models or data staging strategies and provides necessary cleansing activities. 
  • Manages data lifecycle during the POC/POV.
  • Manages data in secure and compliant way even during the POC/POV to avoid any potential risk.
  • Assists R&D and IT teams in implementing successful data models by creating effective data collection methods for analytics.
  • Helps develop tools to continuously monitor the performance and accuracy of these data models.
  • Supports technical specialists in understanding how to gather data and build data ingestion systems.
  • Promotes using services instead of full automation when manual intervention is more cost-effective.
  • Works with NPTC stakeholders to identify opportunities for leveraging R&D data to drive business solutions and provide data sourcing advisory.
  • Work closely with data scientists, analysts, and other stakeholders to understand data needs and deliver solutions.
  • Provide technical support and guidance to team members on data-related issues.
  • Enforce data governance policies in line with Nestlé’s compliance and security standards as part of local data governance team.

 

EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor’s Degree is Required. Master’s Degree is strongly desired in Computer Science, Engineering or Management of Information Systems.
  • At least 5 years of experience in data engineering or digital field.

 

KEY SKILLS:

  • Experience in modern data engineering tools and technologies is a bonus:
    • Data Processing: Apache Spark, Apache Flink, Beam, Databricks
    • Data Orchestration: Apache Airflow, Prefect, Luigi
    • Data Storage: Snowflake, BigQuery, Redshift, Delta Lake
    • Programming Languages: Python, Scala, Java, R, SQL
    • Data Streaming: Apache Kafka, AWS Kinesis, Google Pub/Sub
    • Data Warehousing: Snowflake, BigQuery, Redshift
    • Containerization & Orchestration: Docker, Kubernetes
    • Infrastructure as Code (IaC): Terraform, CloudFormation
  • Ability to build solutions from scratch, demonstrating creativity and innovation in solving complex data challenges.
  • Strong strategic thinking and planning skills, with the ability to align data engineering initiatives with business objectives.
  • Demonstrated ability to work with minimal supervision.
  • Demonstrated strong problem solving skills.
  • Experience with effective communication at different levels in the organization and in English.
  • Experience having worked in a global environment and with virtual teams.

 

This position will be either a remote or hybrid role based on the selected candidate’s geographic location. Preference will be given to applicants who live within a commutable distance of Bridgewater, NJ, Chicago, IL, Palm Beach Gardens, FL or Long Island, NY. 

 

The approximate pay range for this position is $120,000 to $140,000. Please note that the pay range provided is a good faith estimate for the position at the time of posting. Final compensation may vary based on factors including but not limited to knowledge, skills and abilities as well as geographic location.
