This role leads cooking, rapid prototyping, and promotion of culinary mastership at the Nestlé Product Technology Center (Bridgewater, NJ) in support of R&D priorities linked to Nestle Health Science Business unit.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Develop and drive new concepts and prototypes based on consumer needs, consumer trends and business opportunities.
- Be at the forefront of consumer trends in the field of active nutrition and food supplements. Present trends to senior leaders and all employees during food inspiration showcases
- Apply culinary, food & confectionary science to develop products delivering functionality, nutrition and great taste in diverse formats (drinks, shakes, gummies, puddings, tablets..)
- Organize and facilitate cross functional Ideation and Prototyping workshops aiming at developing new winning concepts feeding Innovation & Renovation pipelines
- Train employees on Digital and AI-based tools for brainstorming & visual story-telling
- Inspire and support opportunities with the Nestlé Chef Network in creativity, problem-solving, information sharing, common challenges or internal/external events and publicity.
- Inspire and support product developers and scientists to formulate and develop prototypes. Provide guidance on how to process nutritional bioactives (plants extracts, vitamins, peptides etc..) that bring sensory and technical challenges.
- Support Nestlé Quality Management System initiatives and administrative budgeting (OPEX, CAPEX) related to the Creative Kitchen.
JOB QUALIFICATIONS (Education, Experience and Knowledge):
- 5-10 years of professional experience as culinary chef or culinary chef innovation in R&D. Culinary Science degree or certifications, and award-winning recognized restaurant experience preferred.
- Mastery of/with several different backgrounds (food, confectionary) and the agility to learn new techniques like tableting, soft chews, melts etc.
- Mastery of professional culinary technique (logistics/planning, preparation, and presentation), as guided by Global Michelin rating standards.
- Excellent communication skills (oral, written, and presentation). Must demonstrate clear and concise explanations of product culinary characteristics and marketplace trends (what, why, how) in the context of Business Understanding and adapted for the specific presentation audience.
- Excellent organizational and planning skills. Can independently and proactively prioritize and manage time and resource commitments across multiple projects.
- Strong interest & motivation (passion) applying culinary knowledge to product development that drives business results (Discovery projects, pipeline, and launches).
- Strong self-directed curiosity, creativity, prototyping and “idea pitch” skill.
- Strong collaboration, networking & information gathering skills. Understands and can proactively drive and promote collaboration of cross-functional relationship networks.
- Ability to coach, train, and mentor product developers/scientists in the culinary area.
The approximate pay range for this position is $105,000 to $135,000. Please note that the pay range provided is a good faith estimate for the position at the time of posting. Final compensation may vary based on factors including but not limited to knowledge, skills and abilities as well as geographic location.
