Position Summary: 
Nestle Health Science is expanding our US innovation capabilities and looking for a consumer innovator to join the Consumer Science team.  

 

Consumer Science uses a human-centered approach to develop and refine ideas.  We work closely with R&D teams and Marketing Innovation to create new product concepts and communicate their benefits.  Our specialty involves combining technical knowledge with consumer understanding to help simplify science-led ideas into easily understandable, consumer relevant products.  

 

In this role, this individual will have the opportunity for impact and influence at all levels of the organization and help shape how and what we bring to market.  The ideal candidate will be a thought leader, design thinker and have the ability to inspire action through writing, conversations and presentations.   Experience in problem solving, consumer empathy / ethnography, data synthesis and visual storytelling are essential skills.       
 
Key Responsibilities:
• Identify and lead multi-phase projects which help guide in the creation of consumer relevant, science-based propositions.
• Synthesize information from many sources (e.g. primary/past research, competitive landscaping, and internal interviews) into a cohesive, highly visual story that encourages action. 
• Facilitate internal team sessions and conduct internal expert interviews to collect ideas, create concepts and generate conceptual prototypes. 
• Lead stimuli creation for consumer research by identifying the best way to present the information, connecting with internal experts for content and creating the stimuli.
• Moderate consumer co-creation activities both online and in person with the support of Consumer Science team and external agencies for recruitment, programming and data collection. 
• Create work output which shows the audience how to act on the insights through data visualization, storytelling and by shaping the recommendation into clear next steps.  
• Demonstrate recommendations through mock-ups and visuals which provoke thinking, collaboration. 
• Activate recommendations and insights through collaboration with R&D, marketing and design on the next phase of work, such as: concept writing, artwork creation, prototyping.

 

Experience and Education Requirements:
• 5+ years work experience in consumer product innovation, customer/user experience, product research, human-centered design (at agency or manufacturer)
• Minimum Bachelor’s Degree
• Passion for creating new products that meet real consumer problems and needs. 
• Excellent storytelling skills – able to qualitatively synthesize information from multiple sources into a relevant written, verbal or visual story.   
• Experience with extracting patterns and themes from qualitative, empathetic and ethnographic consumer research. 
• Comfortable working with technical information and collaborating with both R&D and commercial teams.  
• Experience in moderation and facilitation of work sessions and/or consumer research a plus, but not required
• Self-starter that is naturally curious, flexible and able to navigate ambiguity.
