POSITION SUMMARY:

The SH&E technician provides broad support to the site in the area of Safety, Health, and Environment.  The primary objective of the role is providing regular support to site operations at points of execution (on the shop floor).  Promotes and contributes to a site culture where Safety, Health and Environment are engrained as a core value with all employees.   Assists SH&E program implementation and daily follow-up and trains other employees in key SH&E areas as necessary.  Ensures on-going excellence in SH&E compliance and expected work practices on the shop floor.

 

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  1. Demonstrate thorough knowledge of expected SH&E practices and behaviors.
  2. Implement and participate in company SH&E policies, processes and procedures including but not limited to:
  1. SH&E Team Meetings; SH&E Committees, SH&E Pillar
  2. Job Hazard Evaluations, Internal Inspections and Audits, Incident Investigations
  3. Hazard Abatement
  4. Confined Space Entry, Electrical Safety, Hot Work
  5. Machine Safeguarding,  Control of Hazardous Energy (LO/TO/TO)
  6. Personal Protective Equipment
  7. Emergency procedures and equipment
  8. Take an active role in site waste management audits and practices
  9. ISO/OHSAS Requirements
  10. Chemical inventory and management
  1. Troubleshoot at risk conditions using NCE problem solving tools such as 5 Why, GSTD tools.
  2. Take an active role to insure that human safety is never compromised.
  3. Provide key support to all SH&E systems as directed.
  4. Demonstrate knowledge of environmental best practices.
  5. Support site ISO 14001/18001 certification, document control process, and record maintenance.
  6. Troubleshoot various environmental conditions and take appropriate levels of corrective action.
  7. Provide key support with all Environmental Management System policies and procedures including but not all inclusive:
  1. SPCC Spill Prevention Control Countermeasures
  2. Spill response and clean up support
  3. Waste management
  1. Provide SH&E expertise at local committee operating reviews.
  2. Assist in root cause investigations of SH&E related incidents.
  3. Provide routine training and coaching to site personnel.
  4. Complete all required documentation to support OSHA and EPA compliance and injury prevention activities

Performs all other duties as assigned by supervisor.

 

SUPERVISION RECEIVED:

The SH&E Technician receives direct supervision, guidance and coaching from the Site SH&E Manager. 

 

SUPERVISION GIVEN:

Factory SH&E Technician.  No direct supervisory responsibilities.

 

FINANCIAL/STRAT

Ensuring daily completion of job duties.  Assists in preventing injuries/illnesses, environmental incidents and ensures proper operation of environmental systems and processes.

 

REQUIREMENTS AND MINIMUM EDUCATION LEVEL:

Associates Degree in related areas

 

EXPERIENCE:

5 + years experience in manufacturing. General knowledge of plant operations including Maintenance, EPSU, Warehouse, Refrigeration, and Production. Must have solid track record for SH&E, having served as a SH&E representative or committee member is considered helpful.  First Aid/CPR/AED or higher certification will be required

 

SKILLS:

  • Excellent interpersonal interactions.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills are required along with the ability able to communicate with audiences that have a broad range of background and understanding. 
  • Training & presentation skills. 
  • Able to live the Nestlé Leadership Principles and bring it to life for others.
  • Ability to organize and prioritize.
  • Computer skills (Microsoft Office/Windows based)
  • Reading and comprehension skills/legal & regulatory interpretation
  • Understand the safe operation and environmental impacts of all equipment and processes.
  • Ability to actively participate in and contribute to meetings.
  • Develops and maintains a professional attitude at all times.
  • Maintains effective working relationships within and outside the department.
  • Communicates effectively with various support groups, supervisors and team members.
