PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
IS Technician is to operate, maintain and troubleshoot the following:
•Steam and hot water generation and distribution, including condensate recovery
•Refrigeration and Chilled water (and/or other cold medium) generation and distribution
•Potable and process water treatment, supply, and distribution system
•Compressed air generation and distribution
•Air handling equipment and distribution
•Wastewater system and treatment
•Fire and Security System: Fire Protection System including CO2 and Halon system, controls and detection systems, ammonia detection system and all security gates.
•Other Utility Systems: back-up fuel system, natural gas system, water system, sewage system
GENERAL RESPONSIBILITIES:
•Be a member of the emergency response team. Annual recertification for CPR, first aid, Hazmat, and confined space rescue
•Start/stop systems, observes operation and records pertinent information. Be accountable for the safe, reliable, and efficient operation of the utility systems to meet the operational demand.
•Responsible for all safety system checks combustion tuning, boiler safety checks, regulatory, International Institute of Ammonia Refrigeration industrial safety checklist (IIAR)
•Use planned and predictive maintenance tools, such as CMMS and Nestlé’s Maintenance Strategy to minimize the impact on production.
•Use knowledge of water chemistry to maintain and service equipment
•Facilities and Grounds Maintenance: Ability to carry out routine facilities and ground inspection/maintenance.
•Perform outdoor inspections of buildings including parking lots, signs, sidewalks, and grounds
•Perform/Coordinate lawn maintenance, snow removal activities in the facility
•Perform General maintenance and repair of building roof, floors, doors, walls, windows, ceiling tiles, furniture, plumbing, floor drains and lighting systems
•General labor work as assigned both inside and outside the building during all weather conditions
•Perform/Coordinate painting throughout facilities to include "5S", aisle ways, hallways, walls, and rooms as well as structural and utility systems
REQUIREMENTS/EDUCATION:
•High School Diploma or GED is preferred but not required
EXPERIENCE:
•Minimum 3 years’ experience in industrial maintenance environment.
SKILLS:
•Industrial refrigeration/boiler experience preferred.
•Experience in ammonia refrigeration and electrical controls preferred.
•HAZMAT training certification
•Detect and understand warning lights, buzzers, alarms or instruments indicating hazardous conditions or circumstances which may cause equipment or product loss and physical harm.
•Must be physically able to wear and use SCBA and canister type breathing equipment and be able to pass the breathing certification and respiratory fit test
•Must be able to use test equipment (such as multimeters).
•RETA Certified Assistant Refrigeration Operator (CARO) within one year.
•RETA Certified Industrial Refrigeration Operator (CIRO) within two years.
•Internal Armstrong Boiler training curriculum to be followed.
•CMMS knowledge desirable.
•Knowledge on applicable regulations and standards (OSHA, EPA, ASME, IIAR, ANSI, PSM/RMP and industry best practices)
•Able to understand verbal and written instructions in English
•Able to work in effective temperatures ranging from –40 degrees F. to +120 degrees F.
•Able to handle various hand tools, open and close valves, tighten or loosen bolts, and operate numerous switches, buttons, and HMI screens.
•Able to work in confined spaces.
