Specialist Applications Development North America

Position Summary

This position reports to the Product Assembly Lead – Application Support and is responsible for working with Nestle peers including the technical teams and business units to develop, maintain and enhance the Business Warehouse system from a functional and technical standpoint. BW Systems Specialists have in-depth technical experience related to the SAP BW module, and work to identify user requirements, assess available technologies, and recommend solutions related to reporting.  In addition, the candidate assists with development, testing, and support activities related to the implementation of the SAP BW implementation.  This includes analyzing and understanding technical challenges, configuring systems to support identified business processes, and resolving technical issues affecting business process.

The individual occupying this position writes functional and technical specifications, develops appropriate test scenarios, and scripts, and analyzes test results. Also, hands-on development for the localized solutions following the best practices. The individual occupying this position also works with SAP developers to customize SAP functionality in one or more functional areas for new and existing system deployments.  They also provide technical support and expertise in resolving identified application issues and problems.  The candidate will ensure that a design being implemented is inline with best practices from a technical and architectural perspective.  In addition, the incumbent collaborates with project managers to ensure that the system delivers the functionality specified.

The individual in this position is competent in at least one SAP module and is familiar with SAP and other IT technologies.  They can regularly coach other team members and assist others so that project deadlines are met.  This position requires excellent communications skills and accountability for the quality of efforts and deliverables.

A day in the life of...

  • Provide technical consulting support, troubleshooting guidance and leadership on resolving BW system issues
  • Provide technical expertise and business analysis as a strong technical resource on the BW support team – leading technical reviews, and solution design and development activities that supports business needs
  • Develop business relationships and integrate activities with the technical teams and business units to ensure the successful implementation and support of BW applications
  • Work with project managers to formulate and define application scope, objectives, and implementation project plans
  • Provide technical detailed specifications from which ABAP programs will be written when required; oversee the design, coding, testing, debugging, and documenting of programs
  • Regularly coordinate with other personnel to ensure business application systems are developed in a way that complies with architectural standards and established methodologies and practices
  • Develop the localized BW solution following the development life cycle and best practices
  • Monitor and report to management on the status of project efforts, anticipating and identifying issues that inhibit the attainment of project goals; execute corrective actions
  • Foster and maintain strong relationships with customers and IT colleagues to meet the expected customer service levels
  • Support the current BW production environment by working directly with end users and ensuring all service levels are met

What will make you successful

  • A Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Management Information Systems, or related discipline, or equivalent work experience, is required
  • Conceptual knowledge of information technologies and methodologies; specific knowledge of ERP applications, technology systems and platforms are critical
  • 4+ years of experience developing, configuring, and deploying SAP BW
  • Two or more BW implementations that cover inventory, sales, logistics, customer service and trade subject areas
  • Knowledge of project management techniques is required (cross-functional experience is highly desired)
  • Experience with structured design, development, and implementation of new computing architectures
  • Strong analytical aptitude with a proven ability to analyze/interpret technical requirements and translate them into system specifications
  • Excellent verbal and written skills, organizational and time-management abilities
  • Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills, including aptitude for mentoring and coaching others, and the ability to work with personnel at all organizational levels
  • Flexibility and adaptability to the demands and requirements of a fast-paced environment with multiple priorities; ability to work on multiple projects and assignments simultaneously
  • Excellent creative thinking skills with emphasis on developing innovative solutions to complex problems that may not have one clear answer; the ability to identify alternatives, workarounds, or temporary solutions. 
  • The ability to challenge the status quo and recommend new methods and solutions to problems and issues
  • Proficient in MS Word, Excel, Project, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
