Position Summary

IT Database Administration work includes designing, configuring, and managing databases to ensure the integrity, security and accessibility of the organization's data

A day in the life of...

  • Defining standards for physical data storage, maintenance, access and security administration
  • Performing backup and recovery using Database Management Systems
  • Configuring database parameters and defining data repository requirements, data dictionaries, and warehousing requirements
  • Designing and implementing approaches to improve database performance, capacity, and scalability
  • Recognized subject matter expert in job area typically obtained through advanced education and work experience
  • Manages large projects or processes with limited oversight from manager
  • Coaches, reviews and delegates work to lower level professionals
  • Problems faced are difficult and often complex

What will make you successful

  • Bachelor's degree in business or computer science, systems analysis or a related study, or equivalent experience
  • 5+ years of experience in relational database management systems (MS SQL Server, Oracle or DB2)
  • Experience in Database configuration and tuning
  • Experience in On Cloud environments (Azure, AWS or GCP)
  • Has specialized depth and/or breadth of expertise
  • Manages large projects or processes with limited oversight from manager
  • Coaches, reviews and delegates work to lower level professionals
  • Solves complex problems; takes a broad perspective to identify solutions
  • Works independently, with guidance in only the most complex situations
  • Interprets internal or external issues and recommends solutions/best practices
  • Ability to work in a multinational & complex environment
