Position Summary

The Lead IT Project Manager manages a project (standalone or as part of a program/larger project) to ensure it delivers expected and aligned Business Case to the IT and/or Business Sponsors, on time, on budget, on scope and on quality that may be clearly defined upfront or may require dynamic and iterative scoping, delivery and change management (agile program management), adhering to established Project Management methodologies. S/He is responsible for participating or leading/driving discovery through to design with the Assembly Team of IT and/or Business resources to then help build the Business Case with comprehensive budget planning for final submission and approval. Manages the project's budget. S/he is responsible to structure the project, oversee and provide advisory to project managers, plan and budget, execute, monitor and control it, and finally close it, ensuring quality and integrity of the information across the enterprise. As part of this, is responsible to manage risks, quality and procurement; leads the project team and is the person that project resources report directly to for the execution of the project tasks they are allocated. S/He may also consult on other initiatives by helping with leading Discovery process through to Business Case creation/submission and project structuring. S/He may also conduct Quality Assurance Project Evaluation and help in rescue/recovery efforts on initiatives needing help. S/He is also responsible for helping build up the capability of the PM Community in NA.

A day in the life of...

• Creates a structured project, implementing IT agile project methodologies.

• Develops and controls the Project budget, and manages expenditure within agreed value delivery and spending plans.

• Agile-led, deliverable-based Work Breakdown Structure (WBS) and project plan established leading to development of a resource loaded integrated project plan, with resources identified and secured.

• Project sponsors committed: manages the stakeholder engagement and provides advisory and support to other project managers.

• Establishes and ensures appropriate governance functions for the Project in accordance with enterprise policies, practices and on behalf of the executive sponsor.
• Ensures the quality of Project Manager deliverables, by ensuring the respect of Project Management best practices.
• Follows-up the Key Performance Indicators for each project and consolidate Program level reporting.

• Project monitored and controlled, risks managed: manages the day-to-day activities of cross-functional project teams and ensures the adherence to the project plan.
• Identifies and mitigates project risk, keeping issues visible, to avoid impacting the project’s success. 
• RAID (Risk, Action, Issue, Decision) Log is established, monitored, and maintained.
• Readiness Assessments as appropriate are conducted on a timely basis with business/IT signoffs.
• Produces timely, detailed summaries and high level reports. 
• Provides project schedule, actual vs. budget, incremental value and earned value information in project progress reports (supported by IT performance management).

• Project changes managed effectively: Works to control change, adjusts the budget, timeline, and project scope to accommodates approved changes.

• Project is closed: Reviews and finalizes deliverables and monitor quality.

• Establish incremental value delivery plan (develop NPV with IT Customer or other return on investment metrics for project, based on customer objectives) and resourcing for project and project activities, and arranges for assignment of project personnel (collaborates with IT Resource Manager to ensure associates with required skills are available to support the implementation of new system solutions).

• Continuous learning: sharpening soft skills areas of relationship management, crisis management, critical thinking, communication, facilitation skills and keeps up to date with latest development and methodology in relation with PM Community and IT Ways of Working.

What will make you successful

• 'Bachelor's or Master's degree in computer science, information systems, business administration or related field, or equivalent work experience
• 8+ years of experience in IT and business/industry
• 3-5 years of diverse roles and increasing leadership responsibilities
• Agile project management experience (3-5 years)
• Experience with End-to-End mindset ownership & driving proactive approach to ensuring successful project deliverable    
• Experience in developing people in particular in managing virtual teams. 
• Managing cultural diversity: respect for various cultures and understanding how to work with a variety of cultures in the most effective way. 
• Stakeholder management in project management role
• Increasing development of business intimacy and business language to effectively engage and demonstrate business understanding and priority with the Business sponsor and Business project team
• Ability to strategically integrate across multiple functions within IT and/or the Business to effectively drive Discovery through to Design and execution of the program/project through to successful delivery
• Effective English communication skills (written and verbal) to appropriately and clearly articulate status and concerns at all levels in th organization--with senior leaders through to project team members and third-party service/solution providers.
• Ability to manage through ambiguity by proactively anticipating issues, needs, concerns, risks, leveraging project/agile methodologies as a tool to ensure alignment to goals and objectives of the program/project, protecting the execution of the project to deliver the outcome as expected while adhering to the scope, budget, timeline, and quality of the delivery.
• Facilitation skills and critical thinking skills to effectively manage and resolve issues, and/or conflicts in a cross-functional environment; able to lead teams and the project through crisis management that builds confidence and enables collaboration at all levels in the organization
• Ability to handle multiple priorities simultaneously and with experience to dynamically prioritize and re-prioritize work for her/himself and the program/project team as appropriate
• Experience working in a matrix organization in a global environment with virtual teams including external partners
• Development of influencing skills and ability to leverage in interactions at all levels of the matrix organization to ensure project execution moves forward towards successful delivery
• Experience in managing change/transitions and change impacts. 
• Substantial consulting leadership experience a plus.
