The purpose of the Zone Data Governance Officer ( ZDGO ) role is to provide strategic leadership and oversight in ensuring successful deployment of a robust enterprise data governance framework within their respective Zone. He/She would mature the long estabilished master data governance and help deploy enterprise data governance strategy across Zone Categories, Markets and Zone Functions for all critical master data and data assets that are foundational to enable Enterprise and Business led Digital Transformation in Nestle. Reviewing the Zonesdata strategies, he/she would identify and ensure that all critical data elements are set for data governance by design for data driven decision making, with right data quality to maximise value generation and support business growth and innovation. ZDGO will estabilish and maintain data governance operating model in the markets, ways of working, key decision commitees and help animate and get necessary business ownership for each critical master data content and data asset content in the zone and define and maintain the key support services to business data content owners for maintaining data against enterprise standards, security, privacy, business rules, data quality as well provide inputs for roadmaps to CDGO and IT teams for Master Data automation, Data Governance Tools and IBS for data services to execute the enterprise data governance strategy in their respective Zone.

Key Responsibilities:
- Collaborate with Stakeholders and Deploy the Enterprise Data Governance Strategy : Establish key stakeholder relationships in Zone, Categories, Markets, Zone Functions and GBS, cascade a compelling vision for enterprise data governance and gain agreement and sponsorship for deploying and implementing data governance strategy in Zone, Categories and Markets. In partnering with business leaders from these entities, ZDGO will identify data-driven opportunities and develop data governance key roadmaps to enable key data and analytics use cases that will drive business growth, operational efficiency, and customer satisfaction.
- Deploy Data Governance Operating Model : Estabilish the operating model to bring Enterprise Data Governance to Life in Zone and align and get agreement from all key Sponsors in the Zones, Categorties, Markets and Zone/Market Functions. This operating model should align with Nestle`s overall operating model and hence a hybrid between centralised and distributed responsibilities.
- In line with scope from unified Nestle and Zone Data Strategy and to support all critical value pools, ZDGO will define and estabilish the roles, positions, competencies required in Markets and Catgories within the Zone.
- Through AS - IS assesment shared from CDGO, ZDGO to identify gaps in capability and help onboard (build or buy) SME`s and data content owners in business entities. Also through this process he/she will help identify the official nomination for Data Content Ownership for each type of master data and unified cross functional data assets in Zone Categories and Markets.
- Another key deliverable would be to Integrate and synergize Data teams at market and in shared service centers especially for data management execution activities. ZDGO will connect teams, both at market and zone level and complete the migration towards CoS/IBS in critical areas. Deliver efficiencies in market-retained IT and LDO oragnisations by leveraging APPMS and IBS.
- Provide inputs to enterprise Data Governance Framework and Monitor and Measure Data Governance Effectiveness : ZDGO will provide feedback and inputs to CDGO help develop and implement a comprehensive data governance framework which will set common policies, workflows, guidelines and procedures to ensure data quality coverage and consistency, integrity, and security across the organization in line with industry best practices and regulatory requirements. This will also include inputs and feedback into setup of key data controls around security, compliance, privacy, retention and ethics, setup data quality framework, rules and remediation, setup data profiling, searchability, discoverability and lineage. Lastly inputs into key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure the effectiveness of the data governance program. This will help ZDGO to regularly monitor and report on data quality, data compliance, and data governance metrics across the Zone. Conduct periodic audits and assessments to identify areas for improvement.
- Validate the key Data Governance Initiatives through Data Governance Working Group and cascade key actions in Markets : ZDGO will participate in the data governance working group and committee organised by the CDGO for decision-making and oversight and how they interplay with DAC and other key committees.
- Through this cross functional data governance committees, ZDGO will get the key priorities and paretos to orchestrate compliance with data standards and best practices but also ensure impacts and support needed for changes made or approved by data owners on the Zone initiatives.
- Along with the data governance working group, ZDGO will estabilih communication channels and escalation procedures for data governance issues with Zone categories and Markets to get data issues resolved.
Required Profile:
- Experience as a CDO or CDGO
- Global or Regional experience in a matrix multinational organisation
- Experience managing global external partners, and teams;
- Highly analytical and data driven, results orientated;
- Drive change and lead transformation, ready to experiment and innovate
- Experience in managing local and remote teams
- Strong relationship building and partnering mindset
- Proven experience in data governance, data management, or related roles
- Strong understanding of data governance principles, best practices, and industry standards
- Knowledge of data regulations and privacy requirements (e.g., GDPR, CCPA)
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
- Certification in data governance or related disciplines (e.g., CDMP, DGSP) is a plus
