Pensions Administration Specialist (Full Time)

 

Gatwick (Hybrid working - Minimum of 2 days in the Office)

Competitive Salary up to £35,000 (depending on experience) plus potential bonus + Pension + 25 days holiday + 12 days flex leave

Position Summary 

 

We are seeking an experienced Pensions Administrator to join a dynamic and collaborative team responsible for the day-to-day administration of trust-based company pension schemes.

 

You’ll play a key role in delivering a high-quality service across a variety of scheme types including defined benefit (DB), defined contribution (DC), career average revalued earnings (CARE), and hybrid arrangements.

 

You’ll manage all aspects of pension administration providing tailored and efficient support to scheme members and trustees.

 

A day in the life of a Pension Administration Specialist

 

You will work within a friendly and supportive team providing the full lifecycle of pension administration services for scheme members and their dependants in line with service level agreements and in accordance with legislation, policy conditions, business rules, and regulatory framework.

Key duties include:-

 

  • Perform pensions administration tasks in line with best practice procedures and regulatory requirements
  • Support annual scheme projects such as benefit statements, renewals, life assurance and pension increases
  • Check work completed by junior team members and mentor them informally
  • Serve as a first point of contact for member queries, offering excellent customer service
  • Assist with ad-hoc projects such as bulk mailings or data exercises
  • All aspects of pension’s administration, such as maintaining accurate records for the members in the scheme, calculating benefits, providing information to scheme members and assisting team colleagues
  • Responsible for meeting agreed service levels and providing a first-class Pensions Administration service
  • Participate in regular meetings and daily interaction with the Team Leaders and other members of the team
  • Ensure the service adheres to the company data and information security policies and escalate any breaches accordingly
  • Supporting the Team Leaders with managing the daily workload within the team
  • Being a subject matter expert for processes, systems and tools and checking colleagues’ work
  • Answer calls and emails for the Fund helpline from members, pensioners and other stakeholders

 

Who Will Make You Successful?

 

To be successful, you’ll need significant experience working as a Pensions Administrator with in-depth knowledge of both DB & DC pension schemes. You’ll play an important part in contributing towards the team’s daily workload targets so it’s important that you’re team oriented with excellent interpersonal, organisational and telephone skills.

Other skills required: -

 

  • At least 2 years’ experience in DB pensions administration (all applications considered individually)
  • Able to demonstrate a thorough knowledge of all pensions’ administration activities including proven experience of all aspects of Defined Contribution and Defined Benefit pensions’ scheme administration
  • Strong numeracy and analytical skills with a fantastic attention to detail
  • Experience in benefit calculations (leavers, retirements, deaths, transfers, etc.)
  • Experience in carrying out complex pension’s calculations including manual calculations and a sound knowledge of current pension’s legislation is essential, including the Pensions & Finance Acts
  • Able to demonstrate a numerical aptitude evidenced by work related experience or academic achievements
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Experience of checking and mentoring members of an administration team
  • An organisational mind set with the ability to prioritise your workload when working to strict deadlines
  • A high level of initiative and self-motivation
  • IT literate with the ability to confidently use Microsoft Office Excel, Word and Outlook
