POSITION SUMMARY

 

Our factory in Crete, Nebraska stands as one of the largest manufacturers in the area and one of the largest wet pet food manufacturing facilities in the U.S. Together, we proudly produce over one thousand tons of pet food per day, including renowned brands such as Alpo®, Nestlé Purina ONE®, Pro Plan®, Friskies®, and Nestlé Purina Veterinary Diets®. We also do our part to care for the environment, like conserving water, investing in renewable electricity, and maintaining zero waste for disposal. Situated just 25 miles from the factory, the city of Lincoln offers convenience to many of our associates who prefer the amenities of larger city living. They embrace the short commute from Lincoln to the quainter city of Crete, where our factory thrives.

 

As a Factory Quality Assurance (QA) Technician , you will assist with ingredient and finished product testing as well as ensure food safety for all pet food manufactured at the Crete factory. You will set up and monitor the sensory lab, support microbiological testing and holds, and enter quality test data. You will coach production operators on quality requirements and be responsible for inspecting raw materials, packaging materials, and finished products to assure compliance with specifications.

 

This position will work 3rd shift (11pm-7am).

 

  • Review and approve thermal process and closing machine records for accuracy, completeness and compliance to standards
  • Perform inspections of ingredient receiving, ingredient preparation, processing, retort systems, and packaging to assess compliance to standards and specifications
  • Formally release raw materials, packaging materials and finished goods in SAP
  • Sample finished product and perform tests for bushel weight, date codes, composition, color, shape, size, odor, etc., based on quality management systems and finished product specifications
  • Enter data from test results on ingredients and finished product into databases and monitor product formulas for accuracy
  • Work cross-functionally with production, packing, maintenance, and safety teams to ensure a continuous flow of quality and efficiency throughout the plant
  • Will be required to complete Good Manufacturing School for Thermally Processing Low-Acid Packaged in Hermetically Sealed Containers within the first year of employment

 

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED Equivalent 
  • 1+ years of experience in quality, food manufacturing, lab or related environment

 

The approximate pay range for this position is $43,000-$56,000. Please note that the pay range provided is a good faith estimate for the position at the time of posting. Final compensation may vary based on factors including, but not limited to, knowledge, skills, and abilities as well as geographic location.
