Starting pay - $25.61 / hour (within the first year, pay progression will increase to $27.11 / hour).

As a Waste Treatment Operator, you will operate waste treatment equipment in the Primary and Secondary systems. You will take control tests on operation parameters while operating secondary system and adjust operation based on results. 

 

This position will be on 2nd shift (3pm-11pm) and will work a 12-2 schedule (12 days on, 2 days off).

 

  • Run pH, suspended solids, and settleometer tests on aeration basin water and sample for micro biological activity
  • Take water, soil, sewage, and solids samples and determine moisture content on sludge and slurry samples
  • Take proper precautions and use proper protective equipment when working around hazardous chemicals and other recognized work place hazards
  • Load and unload chemicals and supplies and complete receiving of chemicals and supplies  
  • Keep accurate logs and records of daily activities
  • Troubleshoot system problems, diagnosis difficulties and communicate with Maintenance/Engineering departments to make necessary repairs
  • Will be required to obtain a Waste Treatment Operator Level 2 license through the State of Nebraska within 6 months of employment
  • Perform all job duties in a safe and efficient manner
  • Other duties as assigned

 

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent
  • 1+ years in production, manufacturing, agriculture, industrial, military, or related environment


Other

  • Background or training in chemistry, biology, and water
  • Forklift experience
