Fantastic salary up to £35,000 + fantastic benefits

 

Working hours: Monday-Friday 8am-4pm (occasional flexibility required to work 6am-2pm)

 

Position Summary  

  

We have an exciting opportunity for an experienced Electrical dayshift technician, to join our team based at our Beverage factory in Dalston. You will support the factory in ensuring timely and efficient completion of maintenance and compliance-driven tasks and management of a small industrial services team who support the business across the whole site. 

 

Nestlé Dalston Factory in Cumbria is the European Centre for cappuccino and creamers producing a range of beverage products. These are produced through a highly automated PLC controlled process plant and automated filling and packing lines. It is continually developing and expanding leading brands such as Nescafé, Aero Hot Chocolate and Coffeemate. The factory is moving forward with continuous improvement principles and actively developing Lean/TPM processes so it’s an exciting time to be involved.

A day in the life of an Electrical dayshift technician 

  

Reporting to the Maintenance Manager you will support the operation & maintenance of the factory utilities & services by ensuring electrical compliance checks, inspections are completed. Planning and completion of remedial works within the Engineering team. Working closely with the site electrical duty holder to ensure the site is compliant with all legislations. Support to the wider team with tasks including clean water treatment, combustion/steam raising equipment, pressure systems, legionella management and wastewater treatment 

Other responsibilities will include: 

  • Ensuring site electrical compliance with internal & external standards 
  • Providing technical support  
  • Support the engineering team to deliver improved reliability and drive a culture of continuous improvement on site. 
  • Supervision of contractors/service contracts within the Industrial services team. 
  • Analyse breakdowns and Identify opportunities for line improvements across the manufacturing facility. 
  • Adhere to all Good Manufacturing Practice standards in respect of plant, tools and environment 
  • Support and challenge your colleagues to maintain all company standards. 
  •  Recording of breakdowns, root cause analysis and taking ownership of follow up actions. 
  • Attend all operational reviews relating to your role 
  • Technical performance, delivering CI Projects and focused line improvement. 

 

 

What will make you successful  

 

You will have strong engineering ability along with initiative and attention to detail. Experience of modern manufacturing techniques such as 5S, LEAN and TPM would be ideal. 

 

You will: 

 

  • Be educated to ONC or equivalent experience in Electrical Engineering time served apprenticeship. 
  • City & Guilds 2382-22 (18th edition) 
  • City & Guilds Electrical Inspection & Testing ideally 
  • Be able to demonstrate skills working on pneumatics systems, process equipment including gearboxes drives, pumps, valves, and also/or packaging equipment. 
  • Possess a logical fault-finding approach to breakdowns. 
  • Be able to communicate effectively with a range of stakeholders 
  • Demonstrate a sense of urgency whilst never compromising safety or product quality.
