Salary: £50,000-£55,000 depending on experience + potential bonus + generous pension scheme + 12 flexible days on top of 25-day holiday entitlement + 2 paid volunteering days + other fantastic benefits!

Position Summary

We have an exciting opportunity for a Logistics Manager to join our team, in one of our Nestlé UK Factories in Dalston.

 

As part of the Factory senior leadership team this position is reporting to the Factory Manager. And you will be responsible for the provision of physical logistics activity, driving continuous improvement on safety, cost and performance with hands on management of the factory logistics team.

 

Nestlé Dalston Factory in Cumbria is the European Centre for cappuccino and creamers producing a range of beverage products. These are produced through a highly automated PLC controlled process plant and automated filling and packing lines. It is continually developing and expanding leading brands such as Nescafé, Aero Hot Chocolate and Coffeemate. The factory is moving forward with continuous improvement principles and actively developing Lean/TPM processes so it’s an exciting time to be involved. 
 

A day in the life of a Logistics Manager

As Logistics Manager you will be responsible for the end-to-end logistics and distribution of finished goods. Managing the day-to-day operations and distribution of our logistic partners and act as a point of escalation for any operational issues.

 

Further duties and responsibilities include: 

  • Set adequate target values for warehousing service and cost KPIs and keep continuously tracked KPIs close to the target values. 
  • Ensure a structured continuous improvement approach based on the application of Tools and the implementation of Best Practices 
  • Implementing, monitoring and managing Safety, Health and Environment, Quality and CARE regulations and Best Practices 
  • Drive cost saving initiatives to improve performance and cost of the warehouse operation. 
  • Ensure the correct construction, control and management of the budget for warehousing (cost budget for warehousing and possible investment requirements)
  • Support procurement to negotiate contracts as per Procure-to-Pay process and awareness of relationships with the service providers including conflict management.
  • Influence Distribution Management, Production Planning and Customer Service in order to continuously improve service and cost.
  • Support and help the LEAN roll out, ensuring that a continuous improvement culture is developed and sustained.
  • Ensure compliance and manage audits within area to ensure meet audit requirements.

 

 

What will make you successful

To be successful in this role you will have relevant and successful operational experience in a leadership role at market/ business level in warehouse management. You will have an ability to use inspirational leadership to create a climate of trust & transparency in which people want to do their best. 


Other key attributes will be:  

  • Desirable to have had worked on a leadership position in a LEAN organization, who has adapted LEAN concepts and tools as part of their way of working.
  • Experience of business planning, budget control, cost management
  • Hands on People management experience to motivate, coach and coordinate a large shift to deliver results.
  • Experience in the management of projects such as warehouse design, distribution network redesign, High Performance Logistics and Customer Logistics
  • Ability to prioritise and make effective decisions based on information available. 
  • Ability to work under pressure and maintain quality of work while meeting competing, inflexible and challenging deadlines.
