We have an exciting opportunity at our Nescafé Beverage Manufacturing site in Dalston. We are currently seeking a Maintenance Engineer to join our Industrial Services team, based at our Dalston Factory.

Reporting to the Industrial Services Manager you will 1 of 3 Maintenance Engineers working in the team, and you be responsible for assisting maintenance and upkeep of building facilities and site services. You will be responsible for coordinating the management of all necessary contractors to maintain functionality & compliance of different equipment.

 

This role will cover equipment such as, but not limited to:

  • Site Lifts
  • Doors, Fire doors & Fire shutters
  • Loading docks & Loading Bay equipment
  • Fire Extinguishers & Fire Alarm System
  • LOLER
  • Building Fabric
  • Welfare facilities (including Canteen)
  • CCTV system
  • Weighbridge
  • External Areas & Site Drainage
  • Other site services such as lighting, water systems

Your impact

 

 

  • You will be an active part of the Industrial Services Team working closely with the duty technicians, and management team to ensure the completion of maintenance, closure of outstanding actions.
  • Contribute and support the department in meeting its performance objectives
  • Ensure the safe & correct management of contractors/visitors, upholding site safety & quality standards
  • Support the Industrial Services manager to develop and optimise maintenance strategies for all equipment, extraordinary maintenance plans and budget creation.  
  • Work proactively with the management and project teams to identify opportunities for improvement in plant performance, process, and procedures.  
  • Review company policy & procedure, as well as legislation to maintain compliance. Including the day-to-day management of site corporate and statutory compliance and reporting alongside the wider Industrial services leadership team.
  • Work with the factory management teams to identify, develop & support training needs. Perform coaching of training plans for the wider engineering & factory team
  • Ensure compliance for all areas of responsibility, support with internal & external audients and work to efficiently & effectively close audit gaps and internally documented (NCMS) actions
  • Manage technical work in the factory to ensure that the standards of GMP, Food Safety, Hygiene and Quality are maintained.
  • Together with the team, you will support the planning of maintenance activities for the department

 

 

Your ingredients for success

 

Ideally, you will join us with a solid background in Engineering in either Industrial Services or Facilities management background, and it is desirable if this experience comes from an FMCG environment.

 

You will also have:

 

  • Minimum NVQ Level 3 (Ideally HNC/ Level 4) or equivalent experience in an Engineering time served apprenticeship.
  • Electrical competence is desirable.
  • Be able to demonstrate skills in the management of 3rd party contractors
  • Possess a logical fault-finding approach to breakdowns.
  • Be able to communicate effectively with a range of stakeholders.
  • Demonstrate a sense of urgency whilst never compromising safety or product quality.

 

Other desirable experiences:

 

  • Experience in Industrial services systems and statutory compliance such as LOLER, PUWER, Legionella, PSSR etc.
  • Capital investment projects management in food industry.
  • Determination of methods to minimize the likelihood of injuries or damages to people and/or equipment (SH&E).
  • Factory operations (as required) working in conjunction with wider factory functions
  • Commitment to a strong work ethic, integrity, honesty, safety, compliance, and quality.
  • Personal relations based on trust and mutual respect. This implies a sociable attitude towards others, combined with an ability to communicate openly and frankly.
  • Experience of using both SAP and Globe to support maintenance planning activity.
