Position Summary

We now have a fantastic opportunity for a talented, driven individual to join our Nestlé business at our Dalston factory as a Process Specialist. The role will report to the Area Manager. This is an exciting opportunity to support the site through change and progress your career.

 

The focus of your role will be to ensure the elements of manufacturing excellence are delivered with continuous drive for Zero. Also to deliver full compliance with process safety, develop detailed training programmes for the operational team and provide process expertise.

 

Nestlé Dalston Factory in Cumbria is the European Centre for cappuccino and creamers producing a range of beverage products. These are produced through a highly automated PLC controlled process plant and automated filling and packing lines. It is continually developing and expanding leading brands such as Nescafé, Aero Hot Chocolate and Coffee-mate. The factory is moving forward with continuous improvement principles and actively developing Lean/TPM processes so it’s an exciting time to be involved.

                                                                       

A day in the life of… a Process Specialist

 

  • To contribute towards maintaining high health and safety standards and to carry out all duties and specific responsibilities in compliance with Health and Safety Policies and Procedures. Responsible full compliance to (MI's, GI's and GU's) for manufacturing safety.

                                          

  • Ensure maximum quality performance targeting a Zero loss mind-set. Deliver compliance in-line with process operating parameters, 'in specification product'.

                                          

  • Develop training programmes for process master craft, create CBP and CDP.                                        
  • Effective management to ensure end to end process is in place to effectively measure and improve. Provide expertise to develop operational excellence in optimisation. 

                            

  • To ensure achievement of defined KPI’s using TPM methodologies.

                                          

  • To lead, coach & motivate a multi-skilled team to achieve individual & departmental development (particularly through Development Performance Review). Become a process expert to identify routes for improvement.                                       
  • Promote continuous improvement in production and improve the quality of Operational Review meetings and Shift Handovers      

                            

  • To facilitate the development of an open culture of pro-activity where people take pride & responsibility in what they do and feel a sense of involvement & self-worth. To continuously inform and involve all relevant personnel in the exchange of information necessary to ensure alignment to current and future objectives 

                            

  • Develop the process conditions in-line with the technical road map for the market. Ensure industrialisation of the manufacturing process working closely with technical applications group for product development.

             

  • To develop problem solving & trouble shooting skills to ensure that all team members can identify root causes & take fast & effective responses to problems.

                            

  • To work collaboratively with Shift Managers and Line Performance Managers in undertaking these responsibilities.                             

 

What will make you successful?

 

  • Previous experience working in a technical and production environment. A background in an engineering capacity or role would be desirable.
  • Solid foundation of the coffee manufacturing process is desirable but not essential.
  • A qualification in an engineering discipline (either mechanical or electrical) would be advantageous but is not essential as this is NOT an engineering role. This will simply help you to troubleshoot and problem solve issues.
  • Experience as a Manufacturing Shift Manager or Manufacturing Asset Manager – desirable.
  • A strong communicator who earns respect.        
  • Able to see the bigger picture, able to prioritise and can challenge the "status quo".                          
  • Able to implement new processes and lead initiatives.
