Quality Assurance Technician – Part Time

Salary up to £25,000 (pro-rata) + plus potential bonus + fantastic benefits

Position Summary

We have an exciting opportunity here in Dalston; we are looking for a Quality Assurance Technician to join the Quality team on a permanent basis.

A day in the life of a QA Technician

You will be working in a team of Quality professionals who will have high expectations, but will support and develop you in your role.  You will be expected to learn new tasks quickly; prioritise and manage your workload; and work effectively in a team but also be able to work on your own with minimal supervision.

QA Technicians provide professional support by performing, and timely communicating the necessary quality tests and analyses required for product safety and quality, for example testing quality of; physical, chemical, microbiological, sensory, intermediate products, raw materials, packaging as well as finished product.                                                                

Key responsibilities of this role will include:

  • Sort samples and allocation to necessary labs
  • Book samples into SAP system and prepare parcels before despatching to external laboratories.
  • Sample from a range of raw, semi-finished and finished products as well as taking environmental samples
  • Setting up daily sensory panels and reviewing the results.
  • Perform micro and analytical testing as required.
  • Reading micro plates and entering results into SAP system
  • Reporting of out of specification results / abnormalities and requesting further samples from the distribution centres and warehouse.
  • Provide cover for other lab technicians
  • Releasing of packaging and raw materials for use in production.
  • Product release following appropriate training period.
What will make you successful
  • We are looking for an agile individual with excellent attention to detail. Other attributes are: 
  • Ideally qualifications in a Science or Food Science discipline
  • Previous experience in another laboratory (microbiology or analytical) would be advantageous
  • Ability to work on own with minimal supervision and be able to organise workload
  • An analytical thinker with a keen eye for detail
  • Experience in the use of Microsoft Office, including Excel and Word
  • A keen interest in continuous improvement activities
  • A problem solver with excellent communication skills
