POSITION SUMMARY:

 

The Senior Facility Safety, Health & Environment Specialist will develop, maintain, and execute environmental, health and/or safety programs to ensure practical, cost-effective measures are in place within the workplace that create a safe workspace that enables a safety always mindset. The Sr. Specialist - SH&E will handle complex assignments and provide subject matter expert guidance, support, and direction to the Distribution Site Managers with reports of injuries, illnesses, environmental incident, or facility safety, environmental or sustainability opportunities. 

 

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:

 

  • Develops and implements processes and procedures (SOP's) to ensure facility compliance with company and regulatory agency policies – including federal, state, and local legislation and regulations pertaining to worker safety and preservation of the environment.   20-30%
  • Leads the facility to adopt a ZERO TOLERANCE MENTALITY toward SH&E losses and coordinates ISO 45001 & 14001 activities with Site Leadership to ensure their facility is positioned in a constant state of audit readiness while driving positive culture. 15-20%
  • Leads SH&E capability building initiatives with Site Leadership teams by providing training and development that influences decisions made at the shop floor will incorporate zero injury mindset. 10-15%
  • Interprets regulations(OSHA, EPA, State, & Local) and Nestle Standards/Policies, and provides consistent guidance and application to ensure site compliance. Analyze SH&E conditions and recommends changes to continuously improve facility SH&E performance. 20-30%
  • Empowers ownership of processes that enable a Safety Culture to exist where all employees are accountable and responsible for health, safety, and environmental conditions and practices. Drives and leads the site SHE Leadership committee.   10-20%
  • Develops, Designs, and Administers training programs for safety incident prevention, protection, and SH&E management systems.   10-20%
  • Provides guidance and oversight of all incident investigations. Leads, coordinates and participates in investigations as needed. Maintains all injury and illness records as required by government laws and Nestle policy.   10-20%

 

REQUIREMENTS AND MINIMUM EDUCATION LEVEL:

  • B.S. Degree in a Safety, Environmental or similar discipline; equivalent experience level with a minimum of 7 years related SH&E work experience may be considered in lieu of.

 

EXPERIENCE:

  • Five years experience leading SH&E initiatives in a warehouse or manufacturing environment
  • Refined experience with Safety, Health and Environmental program development, implementation and training: examples include: Powered Industrial Truck, warehouse automation systems, material handling, ergonomics, lock out/tag out, confined space entry, chemical, fall protection, hazardous and non-hazardous waste management, chemical management and Behavior Based Safety systems.
  • Experience with OSHA and EPA regulations and application in operations
  • Knowledge of Hazardous Waste Management
  • Environmental analytical experience favorable
  • Demonstrated proficiency in use of Microsoft Office
  • Working knowledge of ISO 14001 and ISO 45001
  • Strong decision-making and communication skills
  • Demonstrated ability to evaluate information and form appropriate recommendations
  • Demonstrated willingness to work within a team environment
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
  • Ability to lead and influence others with integrity 
  • Strong application of organizational skills
