POSITION SUMMARY:
This role requires a strong understanding of Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations, the ability to adapt to the evolving sustainability and transportation industry, and the capability to lead projects with minimal supervision. The successful candidate will be adept at processing ambiguous information and developing strategic solutions.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Regulatory Compliance: Ensure all transportation activities comply with DOT regulations and other relevant safety and environmental laws.
- Project Leadership: Lead safety and environmental projects with limited direction, ensuring timely and effective completion.
- Strategy Development: Analyze vague and complex information to develop and implement effective safety and environmental strategies.
- Industry Adaptation: Stay informed about changes in the sustainability and transportation industry and adapt strategies accordingly.
- Training and Education: Provide training and guidance to staff on transportation safety and environmental best practices.
- Risk Assessment: Conduct risk assessments and develop mitigation plans to ensure the safety of transportation operations.
- Reporting and Documentation: Maintain accurate records and prepare detailed reports on safety and environmental performance.
EXPERIENCE:
- Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Safety Management, Transportation, or a related field.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in transportation safety and environmental management.
- Strong understanding of DOT regulations and other relevant safety and environmental laws.
- Proven ability to lead projects with minimal supervision.
- Experience in developing strategies based on ambiguous or incomplete information.
- Ability to stay current with industry trends and changes.
- Preferred: Certified Safety Professional (CSP) or similar certification.
- Experience in sustainability initiatives within the transportation industry.
SKILLS:
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.

The approximate pay range for this position is $74,250 to $101,500 Please note that the pay range provided is a good faith estimate for the position at the time of posting. Final compensation may vary based on factors including but not limited to background, knowledge, skills, and abilities as well as geographic location of the position.
