The Sr. Transportation Performance Manager is responsible for Import and Export Transportation.  They will work collaboratively across Nestle and the carrier to identify root cause and inefficiencies.  This role will initiate, lead and support improvement projects focused on International Transportation performance metrics.  Strong collaboration required with Global and Market Procurement, Trade Compliance, T-Hub Operations, Transportation SHE, Business Relationship Partners. Finance, Transportation System Manager and Facilities.

 

The Sr. Manager will coordinate collective capabilities in areas of network optimization, payload, mode, etc.  They will also support the RFP negotiation process and carrier development.   

This role will lead ocean, drayage and cross border vendors to optimize efficiency, service and cost to support Nestle transportation requirements.  They will be responsible for supporting development of mode strategy with the Business Relationship Partners and Procurement Team. 

 

Transportation Team People Leadership

  • Hire, develop, coach, evaluate, reward, and retain a highly qualified team.
  • Ensure that the organization has strong end to end mindset as well as analysis, problem solving, and continuous improvement skills.

 

Operations: 

  • Manage vendor operations to ensure optimization and service expectations are met.
  • Responsible for relationship with key carriers and performance.
  • Develops and leads the Specialist team to ensure that standards are in place and carriers are being managed consistently to contract obligations. 
  • Collaborates with Procurement on negotiations and contract discussions in compliance with Nestle standards.
  • Works cross-functionally to identify opportunities. 
  • Collaborate with Finance on landed costs (freight costs) and freight cost impacts
  • Initiates and leads projects that drive improvement within the network. 
  • Collaborates with Import/Export Planning on expected forecasted volumes
  • Helps resolve related service, cost, rates and freight payment issues.
  • 25-30% Travel Required

 

 

Administration:

  • Provide options and trade-off on modes.
  • Partner with carriers to develop and execute operational reviews. (Daily, weekly, monthly and quarterly.) 
  • Identify opportunities for improvement and collaboratively work to implement solutions.
  • Provide follow-up with carriers or internal groups as needed to ensure their decisions are being executed properly.

 

Safety and Compliance:

  • Stay abreast of market and regulatory changes.
  • Partner with vendors to share best practices and learning across the network.
  • Partner both internally and externally to develop and implement sustainability projects. 

 

Education and Experience:

 

  • Bachelors required and 10 years proven experience in the transportation field.  International Logistics Experience preferred.
  • Proven experience in various management\leadership positions.
  • Demonstrated ability to be a change agent
  • Experience managing complexities of a large operation (Safety, maintenance, HR, Legal, Quality, Environment, etc)
  • 5 years minimum experience in managing a large, diverse group of people. Preferably in a union environment.
