Position Summary
Aside from its 300 days of annual sunshine, breathtaking scenery and remaining a mecca for some of the country’s best brews, Denver has consistently ranked in the ‘Top 10 pet-loving cities’ and ‘Top 5 dog-friendly cities’ year over year. Nestlé Purina has a proud presence in this mile-high city, having been in operation since 1930. Its first 42 years in operation were primarily to produce livestock feed until the plant transitioned into a pet food-only manufacturer in 1972. Since then, the location became the first-ever pet food factory to utilize solar energy. To date, we’re proud to sustainably produce 260,134 tons annually of Dog Chow®, Cat Chow®, Kit n Kaboodle®, Alpo®, Beneful®, Nestlé Purina ONE Beyond®, Nestlé Purina ONE® and Pro Plan®.
As the Safety Manager, you will manage, facilitate, direct and continuously evaluate and improve safety objectives and goals. You will ensure that employees have the training, resources and support to work safely and follow all safety policies and procedures. You will champion all safety policies and procedures and lead plant-wide safety meetings, teams and functional training.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Develop safety and health programs, systems and processes, including training and coaching to establish clear expectations and procedures.
- Effectively drive sustainable implementation of corporate, division and local initiatives via hands-on leadership, coaching and teamwork.
- Drive compliance with local, state and federal safety requirements. Maintain OSHA 300 Log and internal reporting as required.
- Study data and trends to implement safety campaigns. Organize, coordinate and conduct training for Safety Committee on safety topics and current safety programs in the plant.
- Utilize Nestlé Continuous Excellence (NCE) principles, tools, systems and processes to enhance performance. Develop and lead the Safety, Health and Environmental (SHE) pillar for Total Productive Maintenance (TPM).
- Ensure effective injury case management process is fully implemented, well understood and functioning optimally. Provide customer service for all employees with inquiries in the areas of safety to include, but not limited to workers’ compensation, personal protective equipment, etc.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor’s Degree in Safety, Industrial Hygiene, Occupational Health or related field
- 3+ years of leadership experience
- 5+ years’ experience in a safety or compliance role within a manufacturing, industrial, military or related environment
This position has a minimum salary of $93,066. Please note that the salary provided is a good faith estimate for the position. The final salary offer will be determined after reviewing relevant factors, which include a candidate’s qualifications and experience, where appropriate.
