POSITION SUMMARY
As a Packaging Engineer, you will deliver expert support focusing on maximizing the efficiency and performance of filling and packaging machinery. Your role will involve guiding capital investment decisions and facilitating the implementation of New Continuous Improvement (NCE) initiatives. You will work closely with Supervisors and Operators on the packaging lines to ensure smooth operations. Additionally, you will contribute to the Factory's safety, health, and environmental (SHE) programs related to packaging equipment and support our sustainability efforts by advancing initiatives for environmental responsibility and plastic reduction.
A DAY IN THE LIFE …
- SHE: Machinery Safety - Assess, identify and close the F&P Machinery safety gaps
- Ergonomics - Contribute to the design and evaluation of the tasks, jobs, products and systems in order to improve human comfort, health, safety and performance
- F&P Quality and Compliance: Support the Factory for compliance on Packaging Quality and Food Safety (Food contact and Foreign Body).
- Compliance: Ensure Processes & Equipment in his/her area of competency are safe for people, products and environment, in line with all corresponding local / Nestlé regulations.
- People Development: Ensure development of competencies of packaging assistants & disseminate packaging best practices and knowledge at the shop floor. Source & utilize training materials available within the Group (or develop training materials as appropriate).
- Nestlé Continuous Excellence: Support the implementation of packaging engineering initiatives that will result in increased productivity, higher quality and improved costs. Lead or participate in DMAIC exercises related to packaging lines. Build up MP Database (Maintenance Prevention) based on operation feedback (MP Datasheets).
- Engineering Standards: Establish URS and evaluate supplier technical data and capability. Deliver Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) evaluation and complete line design engineering (V-Graph, simulation, …) to optimize performance KPI’s such as AI, MTBF, MTTR, vertical start up, “one digit” change over (SMED), …
- Deliver technical support on installation and start-up of new packaging equipment, new product implementation support, line layout modifications, feedback to design, as a Project Leader for minor projects and as technical support for major projects.
- Work as a hub between the Factory and the equipment suppliers.
- Apply standards (URS, FAT, SAT), best practices and latest defined technology within the factory. Feedback to Packaging Engineering Manager
What will make you successful…
- Academic Experience: Bachelor's degree in Engineering, preferably in Packaging, Mechanics, Mechatronics, Industrial Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or Automation.
- Operational Experience: Experience in filling and packing operations, maintenance, or machine manufacturing.
- Factory Experience: Experience in factory development or filling and packing operations.
