As an Associate Chemist, you will be responsible for performing a variety of standard chemical assays and analyses on different substances and materials, which requires a comprehensive understanding of diverse principles and techniques. You will also engage in specialized analyses that may be infrequently performed, working either independently or as part of a team. Additionally, you will modify existing methods to address and resolve issues related to routine determinations, while ensuring the preparation and accuracy of standards.

 

Responsibilities

  • Receives, registers and prepares samples for general analytical testing through data entry, weighing, and physical homogenization.
  • Perform basic to sophisticated procedures and analyses as required.
  • May interpret and analyze data 
  • Approve analytical data. (2nd level analytical review)
  • Plan, organize, and write reports.
  • Operates laboratory equipment as it applies to methods within scope of competency
  • Troubleshoot laboratory equipment as it applies to methods within scope of competency
  • Perform routine maintenance on laboratory equipment
  • May be responsible for training of technicians and/or other Analysts
  • Assure adherence to safety and environmental regulations.
  • Carry out assignments in a timely, diligent, and safe manner and perform work in accordance with NQAC SOPs.
  • Assure quality of results, by establishing and maintaining QA plan and ICPs.
  • Provide accurate and precise data consistent with internal QA requirements.
  • Responsible for corrective action stage and completion
  • Can be considered a point person for an internal audit from QA
  • Assure equipment is maintained in reliable working order, and make repairs within the capability of the analyst.
  • Respond to CS customer questions regarding sample logistics 
  • Write, review and provide proper documentation for methods.
  • Method Ownership
  • Contribute to studies to develop new methods and techniques pertinent to the analysis of foods.
  • Provide training for methods and procedures used within group.
  • Attend internal and external training programs to develop professionally.
  • Creates training protocol (success criteria) for approval

 

Requirements

  • BS in Related Science: 2-5 years experience in food science laboratory or closely related laboratory environment.
  • MS in Related Science: 0-2 years experience in food science laboratory or closely related laboratory environment

 

Skills

  • Basic computer skills (Microsoft Office Applications:  Outlook, Word, Excel, etc.)
  • Good verbal and written business communication skills
  • Teamwork
  • Professionalism
  • English Language Skills (Basic reading, writing, speaking, etc.) 
  • Ability to priortize and manage time
  • Excellent detail orientation.
  • Good communication skills, verbal and written.
