In this role you will be responsible for delivering against production plans, organize and control the production and packing of products in the factory, ensure adherence to manufacturing standards and labour requirements for a team of approximately 170 employees. Key is to remain within budget and according to Safety, Quality and Health and Environment standards and specifications.
A day in the life of a Plant Manager:
· Responsible for developing plant budgets and cost performance metrics taking internal and external benchmarking into the equation and meeting the budget and cost goals.
· Lay out the production schedule so that production quotas are met, and financial and time constraints are respected.
· Oversee the operation of the entire production or packing department and ensuring complete compliance to Company's Quality, Labour, Hygiene, Safety, Health and Environment, maintenance of the equipment, policies and guidelines and with local Law and regulations.
· Using different continuous improvement tools and methodologies, develop plans to enhance the performance of the production or packing department in terms of cost, quality, hygiene, productivity, etc.
· Accountable to keep the Factory Manager of the site informed regarding day-to-day problems or situations that may affect the overall production operation of the Plant.
· Effectively manage the DOR / LC, ensuring proper exchange of information (cascade Target/escalate issues) for alignment with the objectives in the short term and WOR, MOR for medium and long term to achieve production plan and to identify and achieve performance improvements.
· Motivate, guide, support and coach the resources to achieve objectives and to act in accordance with NCE guidelines.
· Responsible to plan, assign, and direct the work and to formally appraise people's performance against objectives and company behaviors and technical competencies; to reward and apply disciplinary actions when necessary; to build a strong team spirit and setting an example of superior behavior, attitude and performance.
· Should provide timely feedback and coaching to team members to develop them to their full potential and to achieve objectives in accordance with NCE guidelines. Accountable to ensure sound succession plans.
What will make you successful?
· Knowledge and experience in production and manufacturing of Confectionary or FMCG Company
· Understanding of Bill of Materials, Labour Planning and calculation of losses.
5+ years operations and/ or engineering experience in a food manufacturing plant
· 5+ years production supervisory/management role
· Experience on plant optimization along with involvement with continuous improvement activities.
· Experience and knowledge of industry compliance requirements
· TPM and /or Lean manufacturing experience is desirable.
· Experience in Industrial Relations/negotiations is desirable
· Strong people management skills – demonstrated in previous role
· Managing diverse teams
