Position Summary

Perfection is at the heart of what we do, and our people are always looking for the next big idea to cement our status. We are now looking for a Section Engineer to be based in East London Factory.
In this role you will be responsible for the installation, maintenance, servicing and repair of all machinery and equipment in the factory necessary for the continuity of manufacturing operations and the safety of plant personnel. Staff includes artisans, operators, other support personnel and contractors.
A day in the life of a Section Engineer:
Budgeting:
- Ensure that investigations of proposals for plant, equipment, and building improvements are conducted to accommodate new products, technology for inclusion in Long-term plans and Capital expenditure or Maintenance & Repair budgets. Analyse output/efficiency on a shift basis and take appropriate action.
- Control of expenditure of respective budgets for section under his control.
Planning:
- Ensure all required forms, are duly completed in line with specific procedures (work orders not scheduled, completed work orders, Hot Work Permits, registers).
- Ensure work as scheduled through predictive Maintenance System for all machinery and equipment are carried out timeously, and to sound engineering practices.
Safety:
- Establish plans for handling breakdowns and other emergencies such as fire, power failure, etc.
- Ensure all safety checks are carried out in terms of the schedule and legal requirements.
- Ensure that Engineering staff adheres to Health and Safety regulations.
Installations:
- Ensuring that the plant machinery and equipment operates as per designed specifications and recommendations, the MOS Act and recommendations as per NOSA.
- Ensure sufficient spares and minor materials are available to staff to enable prompt and efficient repairs to plant and equipment.
- Assist Factory Engineer in the co-ordination of approved plant or equipment installations.
Management of Human Resources:
- Assist in training of various technical staff when required to do so, such as apprentices, vocational students, staff from other factories and Head Office.
- Manage direct reports in terms of employee development and performance management.
What will make you successful?
- Diploma/Degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering
- GCC or studying towards
- 5 years’ experience in Engineering, preferably in FMCG
- Computer literacy in Excel/Word/PowerPoint/Ms Project knowledge essential.
- Good interpersonal skills, communication and leadership skills
- Ability to work under pressure and meet all deadlines set
