Qualified artisan with an electrical trade test certificate. N6 technical diploma in electrical engineering from a technical college or National Diploma from a Technikon. Registration with department of labour as an installation electrician/wireman’s license. Registration as a master installation electrician with the department of labour will be an added advantage. Electrical foreman certificate and experience as an electrical foreman will be an added advantage.
Position Summary
The successful incumbent will assume full electrical responsibility throughout the factory during all production periods and planned maintenance on respective plants/lines. He/she will provide support to the production team on electrical engineering issues in their respective plants/lines. Consult the respective section engineers and or technical assistants on maintenance, CAPEX, and other engineering related issues on their respective plants. Support the electrical engineer in bulk power supply services, electrical maintenance, projects, breakdowns, compliance, and energy improvement initiatives etc. He/she will make sure operation of the plant is in an efficient manner by regular inspections, planning and scheduling of electrical maintenance throughout the plant. Will be required to manage a team of electricians daily.
Long Description
- Management of staff- ensure subordinates are adequately trained to carry out own functions, performance management reports and manage attendance profiles of subordinates.
- The successful incumbent will assume full electrical responsibility throughout the factory during all production periods and planned maintenance on respective plants/lines.
- He/she will provide support to the production team on electrical engineering issues in their respective plants/lines.
- Support the respective section engineers and or technical assistants on maintenance, CAPEX, and other engineering related issues on their respective plants.
- Manage bulk power supply services, electrical maintenance, projects, breakdowns, compliance, and energy improvement initiatives etc.
- He/she will make sure operation of the plant is in an efficient manner by regular inspections, planning and scheduling of electrical maintenance throughout the plant.
- Will be required to manage a team of electricians daily and support them in resolving day to day breakdowns and conduct root cause analysis (RCA) and breakdown analysis (BDA) daily.
- Plan and assign daily electrical corrective, preventive, and predictive maintenance tasks.
- Monitor the repetitive breakdowns in the factory and implement engineering solutions to eliminate/minimize breakdowns in the factory.
- Lead, participate and support in the plant’s performance improvement projects, cost savings initiatives and energy efficiency improvements.
- Contribution to the efficient operation of plant by regular inspections, monitoring and analyzing of MSA results and line efficiencies (SAM reporting).
- Exercise functional control on activities and housekeeping of departmental workshops.
- Investigate opportunities for energy and water saving.
- Implement and maintain full TPM step process for assigned Cost Centre Lines. Including the identification and stock holding level of spare parts. Preventative maintenance scheduling. Generation and control of maintenance “check lists”.
- Provision of multi-disciplinary support during all production periods to ensure equipment availability and efficient.
- Implement hygienic engineering principles where applicable.
- Carry out regular inspections and action any defects.
- Active participation in daily production review meetings and weekly production scheduling meetings.
- Provision of multi-disciplinary support during all production periods to ensure equipment availability and efficient performance thereof.
What will make you successful
- Electrician trade test/red seal
- N6 technical diploma in electrical engineering from a technical college or national diploma from a Technikon with more than five (05) years’ experience.
- A minimum of at least two (02) years’ experience as an electrical foreman or electrical supervisor or electrical overseer in a fast-paced manufacturing environment/preferably FMCG will be an added advantage.
- HV or MV certified. This is a requirement to manage HV/MV distribution on site.
- Registration with department of labour as an installation electrician/wireman’s license.
- Registration as a master installation electrician with the department of labour will be an added advantage.
- Electrical foreman certificate will be an added advantage.
- Proficient in MS Office
- Ability to work independently and under pressure, good communication skills and a team player
- Strong analytical & problem-solving skills, good knowledge of AMM, Kronos, and SAP
