POSITION SUMMARY:

Our dynamic team is seeking a Safety Specialist that will play a pivotal role in spearheading training initiatives that foster a culture of safety and service for our internal customers. You will play a crucial part in guiding teams to achieve and uphold essential Safety Certifications and Re-Certifications in compliance with OSHA standards. Collaboration is key in this position, as you will work closely with our dedicated safety team to ensure ongoing compliance with Safety, Health, and Environmental regulations while conducting necessary safety assessments.

 

PRIMARY RESPONSIBLITIES:

  • Develops and coordinates safety training for the Nestlé Eau Claire facility and contractors to ensure compliance with all Federal, State and internal Nestlé standards. 

  • Manage the Safety training calendar in the learning management system which provides frequent sessions to ensure employees have opportunities to complete requirements in a timely way.

  • Deliver new hire orientation safety courses such as lockout/tagout, confined space, Friends Helping Friends and Hazard Communication.

  • Assists Safety Manager in managing plant safety processes, compliance assessments, and provides guidance and leadership to ensure compliance to Federal, State and internal Nestlé standards. This includes spending time on the floor engaging team advisors and employees about safety, soliciting ideas, and following up on issues.

  • Helps meet/maintain ISO certifications for Nestlé Eau Claire.

  • Updates (as needed) written standards, policies and procedures and champions their implementation with Team Advisors and employees. Additionally, serves as a key safety resource for new equipment/line layout and design.

  • Assist in updating SDS system, maintaining certifications and permits, and updating files for CDL compliance.

  • Coordinates safety investigations with department team members to include hazard assessments, recommendations for improvements and communication of resolution.

  • Coordinates safety programs including, medical requirements, and emergency response team training.

  • Serves as a resource to  all internal teams across shifts.

  • Leads Safety Committee and Sustainability Committee and other Task Forces that may be needed.

  • Additional responsibilities as assigned.

 

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Safety or related field is strongly preferred but not required.

  • In lieu of a Degree, at least 2 years of experience in safety, risk management, or occupational health is required.

  • Working knowledge of OSHA regulations is a must.

  • Training or facilitating experience is strongly preferred.

  • Ability to work flexible hours to meet the needs of a 24/7 manufacturing facility.

 

SKILLS:

  • Excellent written and oral communication, public speaking and presentation skills.

  • Knowledge and understanding of adult learning concepts and methods.

  • Knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.

  • Skills in developing and delivering training programs.

  • Excellent planning and organization skills, ability to independently manage multiple small to medium scale training projects from initiation to delivery.

  • Strong interpersonal skills, including effective listening, intercultural collaboration and providing feedback.

  • Must be able to work effectively with people at all levels of the organization.

  • Ability to obtain necessary certifications / licenses.
