Position Summary

Plans, coordinates, and executes quality control activities to ensure continued function and high performance of the laboratory. Works with team to evaluate the voice of the consumer with regard to sensory of ingredients/packaging and finished products, keeping quality results. This position is located at the Nestle Nutrition Gateway Factory, 5023 Venture Dr. Eau Claire, WI. We are the sole Nestle Nutrition Factory producing Powdered Infant Formula for North America.  
PRIMARY RESPONSIBLITIES:

Front Line Leadership: 

  • Provides leadership, development, and support to team members under the guidance of the Nestle Management and Leadership Principles.  
  • Hire, coach, evaluate and direct Technicians in the Quality Control Laboratories.

Laboratory Operations:

  • Supervises and assumes responsibility for sampling, inspection, and physical testing of incoming materials, inline QC testing, semi-finished, and finished products.  Including preparation and shipping of samples to identified testing laboratories
  • Manage laboratory operations and schedule people resources to drive KPIs, PPIs, and APIs to support factory performance
  • Ensures accurate and high-quality analysis by application of validated methods as verified by routine performance testing
  • Facilitates equipment / instrumentation acquisition, qualification, and maintenance.  Implements and oversees completion of periodic maintenance and calibrations as needed
  • Conducts investigation and gap closure for relevant audit gaps and laboratory deviations

Quality Mastership:  

  • Responsible for the development, implementation, and maintenance of incoming material standard procedures for the factory from sampling to disposition including but not limited to routine, investigative and monitoring programs in collaboration with TAG, Senior Quality Specialist and Procurement. 
  • Coordinate investigation of nonconforming results.  
  • Responsible for overseeing the disposition decision for compliant materials as well as completing disposition of non-conforming incoming materials following appropriate approval process  
  • Efficient, timely and accurate investigation of consumer complaint and threshold alerts using retain samples, as needed to allow proactive feedback to consumers through the parent’s resource center.  
  • Oversee the preparation, review, and reporting of results for Consumer Complaint, Sensory and Keeping Quality evaluations
  • Track training for compliance and proficiency for all active panelist, following Nestle standards
  • Support facility during internal and external audits including but not limited to FDA, USDA, WDA, Koser, Halal, ISO, NMS, RSPO 

Quality System: 

  • Factory level owner of the Supplier Management Improvement (SMI) program, responsible for the collection and submission of deviation reports to the SMI program, and approver for vendor submitted SMI actions 
  • Act as the primary contact for ingredient and packaging vendors, working with the vendors to develop corrective actions for deviations identified at receipt or during production; coordinating with TAG and factory or corporate procurement as appropriate 
  • Responsible to update as appropriate the factory Quality Monitoring Scheme for incoming materials

EXPERIENCE:

  • Minimum of one to three years Quality Control experience
  • Supervisory experience or training

REQUIREMENTS AND MINIMUM EDUCATION LEVEL:

  •  Bachelor of Science Degree in Chemistry, Microbiology, Food Science, or related technical field
