POSITION SUMMARY:
Our dry pet food factory, located just 10 miles from downtown, has been a production facility for over 50 years. As producers of iconic brands such as Dog Chow®, Puppy Chow®, and Beneful®, we contribute to the well-being of pets in the community and nationwide. Our factory is also doing our part to care for the environment we share, like conserving water, investing in renewable electricity and maintaining zero waste for disposal. The Safety Specialist is responsible for assisting the Safety and Health Manager with the implementation of policies and programs necessary to fully comply with Nestle Purina PetCare “Safety” Programs and Loss Control objectives. Provide training and ensure proper communication at all levels of the plant to achieve full preparation in the Safety and Health programs and compliance with Federal, State, and Local Government regulations. Act as a resource to all departments in the plant to provide safety and loss control support.
- Develop and implement processes and procedures to ensure Site compliance with company and regulatory agency policies, including federal, state and local legislation and regulations pertaining to Safety and Health.
- Analyze SH&E conditions and behaviors and recommend changes to continuously improve Site SH&E performance.
- Routinely walk Projects, Contractor work sites, and areas where maintenance is being performed to ensure safety compliance per OSHA regulations.
- Evaluate compliance with personal protective equipment requirements, check on contractor training and review safety paperwork (hot work permits, confined space permits, daily checklists, etc.).
- Administer training programs associated with safety and health including “train the trainer” sessions to build capability of line supervision.
- Coordinate and conduct Industrial Hygiene monitoring as needed according to schedule.
- Collaborate to foster and develop a culture where safety and health are ingrained as a core value with all associates.
Requirements
- High School diploma/GED AND 1+ years’ experience in a safety role in production, manufacturing, agriculture, industrial, military or related environment OR Associates/2-year Degree in Safety or related field
The approximate pay range for this position is $59,000 to $91,000. Please note that the pay range provided is a good faith estimate for the position at the time of posting. Final compensation may vary based on factors including but not limited to background, knowledge, skills, and abilities as well as geographic location of the position.Nestlé offers performance-based incentives and a competitive total rewards package, which includes a 401k with Company match, healthcare coverage and a broad range of other benefits.
