Position Summary

 

As a Mobile Technlogy Expert, you will be in charge of the software development, corrective maintenance and code improvements of our eCommerce and IoT mobile applications (Android & iOS).

Your area of activity will cover the technology side of Nespresso’s eCommerce and IoT landscapes. As a technology and software expert, you will be in charge of providing guidance and technical leadership to our software development teams on a much-bespoke landscape.

You will work in a direct-to-customer context with significant volumes and traffic and a very rich feature offering. You will be part a of large development organization with direct impact to the online business.

As a central part of the software architecture community, you will bring deep expertise and knowledge to the product team. You guide and promote optimal use of technology to support the cost-effective delivery of business requirements within the area of expertise.

You will perform preliminary studies, helping to set the technological direction with the product or platform manager. You will support delivery and sustain of the most complex applications and business capabilities and may be accountable for specific deliverables in relation to development or support or may lead the technical activity within their area of specialty.

A day in the life of...

 

  • Write good quality code including Unit testing by applying best practices, and software architecture guidelines.
  • Design and document software solutions for mobile applications.
  • Interpret written business requirements and technical specification documents.
  • Recommend, setup and follow development best practices and ensure their adoption.
  • Estimate development effort for new projects and report progress of developments.
  • Ensure the quality of the delivery of the external partners and its alignment to the MSE strategy.
  • Contribute to the availability and evolution of the Continuous Integration solution (including quality and Security checks) in collaboration with the teams running the service.
  • Translate functional requirements into technical specifications when required.
  • Investigate and analyze defects and perform corrective maintenance and correction of identified defects.
  • Provide deep specialist guidance and support in their specific specialties (eCommerce and IOT, and their underlying technical stacks)
  • Drive and influence the technical activity (design, build, testing) in significant or complex development initiatives, accountable to the Product Managers for the delivery and quality of technical deliverables.
  • Provides the product team with technical expertise, advising on best technology solutions, translating the business vision into technical vision.
  • Participate in the development of and/or review of standards, documentation and methods of working in the relevant area of expertise.
  • Perform preliminary studies, general systems specifications and detailed systems specifications.
  • Responsible for ensuring that all solutions within their technology area are delivered and maintained secure and compliant with internal standards and external regulations.
  • Participate in peer reviews of deliverables and carry out formal and informal reviews of technical designs, standards, documentation and/or implementations.
  • Work with IS/IT Innovation managers, Product managers, Tech Leads, Solution Architects and Business Analysts as required to ensure any solution within their specific specialism fits with strategic and technical direction.
  • Assist others in resolving complex technical problems and investigating the root cause of problems and recommend smart (specific, measurable, achievable, realistic, and timely) solutions.
  • Liaise closely with suppliers and vendors, for example where third-party work or packages involve significant functional, technical, process, data or integration decisions.

What Will Make You Successful?

 

  • A passion for technology and software development, and the ability to bridge technical and non-technical populations in a large organisation.
  • An experience in large development teams & organisations.
  • A strong focus and experience on native app development for Android and/or iOS.
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, system analysis or a related study, or equivalent experience.
  • 7+ years of experience in the relevant area of expertise.
  • Ideal experience of 5-10yrs as a developer, 2-3 years as a software architect.
  • Excellent knowledge of UML and other modelling frameworks.
  • Experience in Scrum and Agile development methodologies.
  • Experience of web service, SOAP, REST, etc.
  • Strong knowledge of Object Oriented Programming and design patterns.
  • Experience of source code management software (GIT) and Continuous Integration tools.
  • Experience with unit tests, integration tests and instrumentation tests.
  • Previous experience in code inspection, review and code quality check.
  • Experience with any of the following technologies would be a plus: Bluetooth Low Energy, Dependency Injection, RxJava, Robolectric, Appium, Jenkins, CocoaPods, AFTNetworking, Masonry Kiwi,  ReactiveCocoa, Instruments, Jenkins.
  • Knowledge of the Material Design principles and iOS and/or Android UI guidelines.
  • Experience of successfully leading technical evaluations.
  • Experience of resolving technical issues, including those involving 3rd parties.
  • Preferably certification in corresponding technical fields.
  • Understanding and knowledge of system development life cycle methodologies (such as agile software development, rapid prototyping and DevOps, project management principles).
  • Experience with effective communication at different levels in the organization and in English.
  • Experience working in a global environment and with virtual teams.
