Position Summary

 

In order to complete our IT Platforms Department, we are currently looking for a Technology Expert – Complementary Applications

 

In this position, you will bring deep expertise and knowledge to the Complementary Applications platform team. Complementary Applications encompass the applications used by the Nestle business excluding SAP, Microsoft, and eCommerce. You guide and promote optimal use of technology to support the cost-effective delivery of business requirements within their area of expertise. Working at the leading edge of IS/IT for the Complementary Applications team, the Technology Expert performs preliminary studies, helping to set the technological direction with the platform manager. You will support delivery and sustain of the most complex applications and business capabilities and may be accountable for specific deliverables in relation to development or support or may lead the technical activity within their area of specialty.

Key Responsibilities

 

  • Provide deep specialist technical guidance and support for applications used by the business, excluding SAP, Microsoft, eCommerce
  • Support the integration of solutions with various technologies.
  • Support and influence the technical activity (design, build, testing) in significant or complex innovation initiatives, accountable to the Platform Manager for the delivery and quality of technical deliverables.
  • Make recommendations on how to improve the effectiveness, efficiency and delivery of services through use of (emerging) technology and technical methods and methodologies.
  • Provides the product team with technical expertise, advising on best technology solutions, translating the business vision into technical vision.
  • Participate in the development of and/or review of standards, documentation and methods of working in the relevant area of expertise.
  • Perform preliminary studies, general systems specifications and detailed systems specifications.
  • Consider a broad range of options and applies sound judgment to develop Complementary Application solutions.
  • Responsible for ensuring that all solutions within their technology area are delivered and maintained secure and compliant with internal standards and external regulations.
  • Participate in peer reviews of deliverables and carry out formal and informal reviews of technical designs, standards, documentation and/or implementations.
  • Provide guidance, directions and, if needed, technical support to product teams, mentoring and sharing technology knowledge with the teams. 
  • Work with IS/IT Innovation managers, Platform managers, Tech Leads, Solution Architects and Business Analysts as required to ensure any solution within their specific specialism fits with strategic and technical direction.
  • Assist others in resolving complex technical problems and investigating the root cause of problems and recommend smart (specific, measurable, achievable, realistic, timely) solutions
  • Liaise closely with suppliers and vendors, for example where third-party work or packages involve significant functional, technical, process, data or integration decisions.
  • To ensure your knowledge is up to date, we will focus on your career by providing regular training for both your hard and soft skills
Are you a fit?

 

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, system analysis or a related study, or equivalent experience.
  • 7+ years of experience in designing, building, testing, and supporting Application Solutions.
  • Experience of successfully leading technical evaluations.
  • Experience of resolving technical issues, including those involving 3rd parties.
  • Expertise in Unix / AIX to support some of our applications on a deeper level.
  • Knowledge about scripting in different environments.
  • Preferably certification in corresponding technical fields.
  • Excellence in the technology domain of specialism.
  • Understanding and knowledge of system development life cycle methodologies (such as agile software development, rapid prototyping and DevOps, project management principles).
  • Understanding and knowledge of IS/IT standards, controls and compliance.
  • Excellent analytical and technical skills.
  • Ability to understand the financial impact of technology alternatives.
  • Experience with effective communication at different levels in the organization and in English.
  • Experience working in a global environment and with virtual teams.
