We are looking for an Observability Expert to be part of our Nestlé Nespresso Digital and Tech Team. 
 

Position Snapshot 

 

  • Location: Nespresso Hub, Barcelona. Spain. 

  • Type of Contract: Permanent.  

  • Type of work: Hybrid. 

  • Work Language: Fluent Business English. 

 

The Role  

 

As an Observability Expert at Nespresso, you'll take charge of designing, implementing, and maintaining top-tier observability solutions within our eCommerce ecosystem. Your expertise in leveraging various monitoring, logging, and tracing tools will enable you to collect and analyze critical data, offering valuable insights into system performance. You'll play a key role in identifying bottlenecks and troubleshooting issues, working closely with cross-functional teams to refine and elevate observability practices. Your proactive approach will ensure the availability, reliability, and optimal performance of our systems, while driving continuous improvement through strategic monitoring and alerting. With strong analytical and problem-solving skills, you'll stay ahead of industry trends, embracing emerging technologies like OpenTelemetry to further enhance the operational efficiency and success of Nespresso’s eCommerce landscape. 

 

In This Role, You Will:

  • Design, implement, and continuously improve observability solutions across the infrastructure and applications.
  • Develop monitoring capabilities that provide deep insights into system performance, availability, and health, including the creation of dashboards, alerts, and metrics.
  • Focus on observability as a whole, utilizing monitoring, logging, tracing, and event-driven automation to enhance system observability.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams (SREs, DevOps, development teams) to define and implement best practices for observability, ensuring a holistic view of application and system performance.
  • Drive the development of custom observability solutions, integrating tools and platforms that provide end-to-end visibility.
  • Ensure that observability pipelines are designed with scalability and reliability in mind.

 

What We’re Looking For:

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, information technology, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
  • At least 5 years of experience working with UNIX/Linux systems and proficiency in shell scripting (Bash, Python).
  • Strong experience with observability tools like Prometheus, Grafana, Dynatrace, Loki, and other similar technologies.
  • Expertise in designing and deploying observability solutions across cloud environments and containerized applications (e.g., Kubernetes).
  • Familiarity with infrastructure as code (e.g., Ansible, Terraform) to automate observability solution deployment.
  • Understanding of modern cloud-native architectures, including microservices, containers, and orchestration platforms.
  • Solid experience in defining and managing alerting, metrics collection, logs aggregation, and tracing as part of a comprehensive observability strategy.
  • Knowledge of networking concepts and protocols, and how they relate to observability practices.
  • Proactive approach to troubleshooting and improving system observability to enable better monitoring and incident response.
